Spare us the spouses trying to tenderise meathead Mitt & Co
UK Daily Mail ^ | August 30, 2012 | Jan Moir

Posted on 08/31/2012 5:42:26 AM PDT by C19fan

At the Republican convention in Tampa this week, Ann Romney made her bid to be the First Lady of the U.S. With husband Mitt going up against President Obama in the presidential race in November, Ann’s job is to get out there, get on the podium and get on with the job of making hubby look like some approximation of a human being.

........................................................

On both sides of the Atlantic, it is often more like The X Factor than a proper election fought on issues. It is 2012, not 1220, but wives are still called upon to declare undying love for the assorted unprincipled dopes they married, to provide the unctuous marinade that tenderises the political meatheads. To defrost and make their husbands (and occasionally wives) palatable to the electorate. It’s enough to make you long for the days when leaders’ spouses, such as Denis Thatcher and Norma Major, scuttled for the shadows like frightened mice. Who were never heard in public and only seen when absolutely necessary.

Sometimes I get the impression our good friends in the UK don’t realize just how much our president hates them and their country.

Regardless of political feelings for Mitt, there is no indications he hates England.

Just more proof, if you are a socialist or communist, your brain has no logical neural pathways only emotional turmoil.

Why read this crap. Conservatives need to get out there and make the case. Obayma will be the death of our nation.

Indeed, I would never ask my spouse to get up on stage and talk about me, our marriage, kids, etc. It's no one else's business.

Todd Palin is a great example - you never heard and still rarely hear a word from this guy.

Anyone born outside of an urban area understands that there is nothing elitist, snobby or strange about Equestrian sports. The people who sneer at dressage are the same people who shudder in disgust when they hear of children participating in 4-H.

I wish urban people would butt the h*ll out and stay downtown with their ten-dollar coffees and their easily-offendend sensibilities. I often wonder if they understand where their food comes from. You can only grow so much in a window box or rooftop garden. If it ever comes down to brass tacks, they will eat each other or starve.

I don’t think we “need” journalists at all. The New Media has made them obsolete. Newsers can rot in h*ll for all I care.

Romney will be the next President, he will save America from four years of Obamanation and get re-elected and be succeeded by a Ryan/Rubio Presidency and then a Rubio/? Presidency.

Right now, Romney et al are OUR team and we have to run with them and make sure enough conservatives are sent to COngress to keep him in shape. Another four years of Obama will make us look like Kenya or the Balkans.

Do you think that The New Media is devoid of journalists?

Personally, I believe that GOOD journalists are vital to a free society.....and, of course, all citizens should participate and watch what government does with a sense of alertness.

You can tell how much of a panic they are in. Every column, every attack get shriller, more full of bile and hysteria.

“Anyone born outside of an urban area understands ....”

IMO, urbanization is the cancer affecting American culture.

“The people who sneer at dressage are the same people who shudder in disgust when they hear of children participating in 4-H.”

4-H is absolutely a first tier program for children. It teaches them self reliance, team work and compassion for animals and others and the practical side of life. A first rate operation, top to bottom.

If you don’t have a program in your school, start one.

I agree in summary and it detail.

The new media is devoid of journalists, by which I mean small men who are paid to destroy great men. If there were ever any good journalists, they lived before my time.

In my opinion, if you hear it on TV or you read it in a newspaper it probably isn't true.

I guarantee next week the wookie will be up there trying to tenderize barky, too ... or would that be to toughen barky?

Toughen him. She'll be doing a creditable impression of President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.

Is President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho better than Obama?

Mitt told the story of the day the rose failed to appear on his mother’s nightstand.

All the women in the audience cried.

And the architects of the Dem “War on Women” strategy suddenly needed a quick change of underwear.

4-H is booming in my county. It’s a great program for kids. The schools aren’t much help, though. They host a few programs, but it is half-hearted. Too many libs.

I don’t think much felt better when I was 3-4 years old than feet in a fresh, warm cow pie. I’ve lived in major cities across the world. One of the places I loved the most was rural New Zealand. It was kind of a perk to be out when I had to wait for the dairy cows to cross the road, with the farmer in gum boots giving a kind of nod of apology. Such worlds apart from major city living. I was blessed to grow up in the Midwest next to a dairy farm and with a vegetable garden every year.
