I’m not a betting man, but if I were, I’d put my money on Obama for re-election.
The GOP will retain the House of Representatives, and I think the Democratic Party will just barely retain the Senate (and that would be largely because of VP Biden).
That’s just how I see it breaking down.
I don’t necessarily know if the “GOP will disintegrate” if Romney loses, but I think there will be some kind of intra-party warfare in the GOP between the TeaParty/Social Conservative faction and the moderate factions. If the GOP powers-that-be get their way, I’d expect the TP/SoCon faction to be purged from the GOP, and they in turn will go on to lay the groundwork for their own political party.
Over there it may not be possible to get a real sense of the quiet desperation, anger and resolve of most Americans to replace Obama. It’s real, measurable and Romney is going to win handily.
