Yes - McCain lost when the polls showed him winning at this point. They were bogus.

The polls weren't bogus 4 years ago that showed McCain in the lead at that moment. Such idiocy.

It was a few weeks after Palin joined the ticket and then the implosion on Wall Street occurred, I believe on Sept. 18.

McCain suspended campaigning and rushed back to Washington to "help" manage the crisis. Obama then had the best line of the whole campaign, when he said he would not suspend campaigning since a president should be able to do more than one thing at a time. After that McCain lost the lead in the polls and never regained them.

To say the polls were bogus is a complete lie. McCain was behind from mid September to election day, so I would say the polls were quite accurate.
