The movie “Fat Head” made fun of this very idea.
The government mindset is that people are too stupid to realize that McDonald’s food is fattening and bad for you. So he went up to people on the street holding a tray with McDonald’s food and asked:
1) Is this food healthy or unhealthy to eat?
2) Will eating this food make you fat?
Everyone, absolutely everyone, knew it was unhealthy and would make you fat.
We don’t need a paternalistic govt to point out what we already know.
“McDonald’s restaurants across the country will soon get a new menu addition:”
Egg McNothing?
Was surprised at the amount of cal. in some items though..
Saw that at our local McDonald’s a few days ago. It makes it easy to calculate calories per dollar, to determine the best value. Even with a BOGO for a quarter pounder with cheese, the McDouble gives more calories/$.
I don’t need anything in writing to tell me how many calories there are in McDonalds’ food. The answer is: a shitload. And I don’t care.
Flour and sugar are the enemy. Eat in small quantities, and you’ll have no weight problem.
And maybe some employees who actually listen to what you are ordering instead of gossiping.

I have seen the new menu boards on the drive-thru. It is difficult to read. There is no order to the menu. Very confusing to me.
They won't, of course, do anything much with this information. Or maybe they'll top off the bazillion-calorie McDonalds meal with a diet soft drink. And "feel" that they're doing something. (And if their clothes don't fit, it must be George Bush's fault.)
They should concentrate more on their food, and not their advertising fluff. Working getting fresh buns, for a change. Work on making sure the burgers are hot when you get them. Working going back to the old fries and not the new cardboard ones.
But most of all, working on replacing your staff with some that are not complacent, distracted, and display an attitude.
I have no problem with this. They have been doing this at Burger King for some time now.
The numbers are meaningless unless you know what a healthy total of daily calories is supposed to be based on the type of work you do. A laborer will need more calories than an office worker sitting behind a desk for eight hours.
Awww, geez, that huge drive thru menu is already indecipherable
Surprised by the calories...but not in the way the Food Police want me to be. Big Mac is 550 calories. I was thinking more like 800. So I guess I can get 2 now. Thanks Food Police!
This just goes to show that some people and companies need government to show them a right thing to do. A very sad commentary on not doing what you think is right or perhaps just that some people actually believe government is the answer to all their private choices.
I much rather make them at home myself though. What I do is toast Thomas's English Muffins while frying three eggs. I fold the cooked eggs into the English Muffin with two slices of swiss cheese and several slices of bacon. Also, I drizzle the English Muffins with 100% olive oil (not butter).
I don't know how many calories that has but multiply by two or three because I can never have just one.
“YOU VILL POST ZE CALORIESS ON ZE MENUSS!” thundered Herr Chief Justice Fuhrer Johann Roberts.
Or something like that.
Nanny State PING!
Let them post the calories and I’ll ignore them if I crave something fattening.
What nonsense(and I’ve always been slim).
I have what most of us have——good old fashioned common sense.
.
Fedgov can and will impose these kinds of nanny state rules under the current expansive view of Commerce Clause.
