Obamacare Redefines 'Full Time' Employment As 30 Hours A Week
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | 12 Sep 2012, 4:16 PDT

A year and a half after the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, bureaucrats at the IRS and Health and Human Services issued an 18-page report outlining new regulations that will dramatically increase health care costs for small and large businesses alike.

The regulations, written by an IRS attorney, arbitrarily redefine "full time employee" as someone who works 30 hours a week for a business. Traditionally, most private businesses have defined "full time employee" as someone who works 40 hours a week.

With this new regulation, the federal government is now removing the right of businesses to define "full time employee" as they deem appropriate for their unique conditions.

The IRS rule is key because companies with more than 50 full-time employees must provide health insurance under Obamacare, or be fined.

Business groups have been warning that small companies might try to replace full-time workers with part-time help to avoid being forced to offer health insurance in 2014, but the 30-hour full-time definition is likely to undermine those plans.

The new regulations confirm former Speaker Nancy Pelosi's famous statement made just before President Obama's hallmark health care legislation became law. "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it," she said.

18 months later, we've found out more of what's in it, and most businesses have decided they don't like it.

RE :”Diabolical. And if Romney gets elected, his promises of repeal notwithstanding, what are the odds his HHS secretary will change these regulations back to what they were when the media starts blasting him for being “mean-spirited?

That one doesnt sound that hard to change back without causing a fuss, assuming Romney disagrees with it.

I do remember in 2010 and 2011 you warning that if any version of O-care passes it will be VERY hard to get any of the free-bees repealed for the same reason you cite above.

Note the problems Romney is having regarding his repeal promises and the pre-existing data mandate. He was quized on this earlier this year and said he wanted to out-law pre-existing conditions exclusion's as long as the person is covered by insurance by say another insurer, Obviously this gets complicated if you try to really come up with a law.

At the DNC they dragged up Moms on stage who claiming that this regulation saved their kids lives (kids pictures shown) and they would die if Romney repeals it.

Reality is Republicans in congress probably couldnt get a full repeal bill to Romney's desk.

In Obama’s economy, 30 hours is a good full time job.

That's all he works per week, why should anyone else have to work more than that?

We'll see what happens if R gets elected. Who knows, maybe he will have a Reagan epiphany. All I am saying is, don't be too disappointed if he doesn't turn out to be as anti-obama as expected. We know he has a dubious record.

Just trying to make it clear what I think. I hope he turns out better than I suspect, but his history is hardly encouraging.

Obviously, as in the "barking-up-the-wrong-tree" thread, you are not a Romney worshiper.

Well it was pretty funny to me to reading “.. don't be too disappointed if he (Romney) doesn't turn out to be as anti-obama as expected.” in a ping to me. Disappointed ???LOL

Romney was and is a very dishonest flip flopping liar as those quotes of him about Libya I posted show and he will say any thing at any time that he thinks sound good at the moment, and examples are endless.

Now you don't have to repeat what everyone else says, “Obama is worse, he lies all the time, he is worse than Romney” because I know that and so I will make a different point as I always try to.

Romney is getting caught, call it a biased MSM but it is more than that, the media always looks for got-ya moments because that is what sells and Obama being POTUS and his seeing he has the advantage over R is allowing him to carefully controlling his exposure to the media to make it hard for them to get him, if they wanted to.

Alternatively Romney and Ryan are forced to give interview after interview with the MSM to gain exposure and to accept liberal mods in the debate as they did and so every lie and flip flop is gravy for the MSM and shown to voters no cost to Obama.
And Romney's similarity in real views to O limit the arguments he can use effectively against him which is why he seems so lame(my view anyway).

In conclusion : Romney's flaws are hurting him NOW. We don't have to wait.
