Joe Klien writes for a magazine that would vanish if it wasn’t for medical office waiting rooms.

Actually, we’re all hoping Israel does the dirty work for us. Then we can condemn them for doing it, but sleep soundly in our beds.

Israel took out two anti-American nations’ nuclear reactors — one in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and the other in Bashir al-Assad’s Syria — with no help from the U.S. It got little thanks, but at least the U.S. presidents at the time and its media commentators didn’t attack Israel’s prime ministers as Joe Klein is doing now.

Iran’s nuclear sites would also have been taken out long ago if President Bush hadn’t solemnly promised time and again to do so himself and then reneged on his promises. So now it’s up to Israel to do the deed. Happy New Year.

Thanks Nachum.
Iran is guided by a leadership with an unbelievable fanaticism. It's the same fanaticism that you see swarming your embassies...You want these fanatics to have nuclear weapons? ...I actually read this in the American press -- they said, 'Well, you know, if you take action, that's a lot worse than having Iran with nuclear weapons.' Some have even said that Iran with nuclear weapons would stabilize the Middle East...I think the people who say this have set a new standard for human stupidity."

Joe Klein: Iran Just Wants Nukes ‘To Deter Israel’

By Mark Finkelstein | December 30, 2011

Joe Klein waited till the very end of 2011, but has managed to make a strong bid for Most Asinine Assertion of the Year.

Appearing on Morning Joe today, Klein claimed that Iran’s interest in getting nukes would “just be to deter Israel” and Pakistan.  Certainly when it comes to Israel, this has to be among the most hideous instances of blaming the victim in recent memory.  Video after the jump.

December 2011

First came the Thomas Friedman column in the New York Times: “I sure hope that Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, understands that the standing ovation he got in Congress this year was not for his politics. That ovation was bought and paid for by the Israel lobby.”

And now we have Joe Klein, in Time magazine, in a section accurately entitled “Swampland”: “Iowa Republicans are not neoconservatives. Ron Paul has gained ground after a debate in which his refusal to join the Iran warhawks was front and center. Indeed, in my travels around the country, I don’t meet many neoconservatives outside of Washington and New York. It’s one thing to just adore Israel, as the evangelical Christians do; it’s another thing entirely to send American kids off to war, yet again, to fight for Israel’s national security.”

Goes to prove that Joe and his followers are on the side of appeasement to an enemy of the U.S. I hope that Bibi steps it up. He certainly, in my opinion, does not need the American stamp of approval from either person who maybe presiding in the WH to do what he thinks should be done to protect his country and their people. I wish that we had someone like Bibi on the ticket in these dangerous times. Call me extreme, Joe.

“If the Israeli military attacks Iran unilaterally, it will be the stupidest thing that Israel has done since the 1982 incursion into Lebanon, stupid and even more disastrous.”

Joe Klein, the seasoned political writer of Time magazine(4 page magazine found in medical waiting rooms) does not mince words when it comes to Iran. We are sitting in his Rockefeller Center office, overlooking midtown Manhattan...

TIME MAG’S JOE KLEIN STEPS INTO THE FRAY TO BASH ISRAEL

By Ruth King on February 18th, 2011

Reforming the Middle East: Time Pundit Opts for Bash Israel Approach

As one of Time Magazine’s experts in international affairs, Joe Klein appears to be woefully misinformed as he jumps “in the arena” — as his column is called — to weigh in on the role he thinks the U.S. should play in the Middle East.

In giving advice on how to reform the region, Mr. Klein falls into the pitfalls of many other unoriginal pundits who, rather than analytically addressing the genuine issues in the region, prefer to take the opportunity to denigrate Israel. He questions U.S. support for Israel, casting aspersions on the Jewish state by stating that “Israel’s illegal behavior in the occupied territories stands at odds with the values the U.S. is trying to promote in the region.”

I think we should wait until Joe Klein re-issues his statements in the original German.
