Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley Fired for Criticizing Islam at Joint Forces Staff College

In the Spring of this year, US Army Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Dooley was condemned by the Joints Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and relieved of teaching duties at Joint Forces Staff College for teaching a course judged to be offensive to Islam.

The course he taught, Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism, was an elective course that Lt. Col. Dooley's superiors judged as presenting Islam in a negative way. His superiors were persuaded to come to this conclusion after receiving an October 2011 letter in which 57 Muslim organizations claimed to be offended by the course.

The fact that Lt. Col. Dooley is a highly decorated combat veteran with nearly 20 years of service under his belt apparently held little or no sway with the JCS. As a matter of fact, JCS Chairman General Martin Dempsey "personally attacked" Lt. Col. Dooley on C-Span on May 10, 2012, during a Pentagon News Conference.

Lopez commented on the state of things: "All US military Combatant Commands, Services, the National Guard Bureau, and Joint Chiefs are under Dempsey's Muslim Brotherhood-dictated order to ensure that henceforth, no US military course will ever again teach truth about Islam that the jihadist enemy finds offensive (or just too informative)."

Several days ago I read a commentary by one of the members of FR which was worth remembering and it stated in so many words that “Any well founded religion can survive blasphemy, except (i)slam and that is the reason it is forbidden”. In my humble opinion it never was or will be more than just a cult. Cobbled together from some of the borrowed teachings of Judaism by a war mongering pedophile who later on called himself a prophet and there hasn’t been any peace since. Down the road and in time, I am quite sure none of us will see it, (i)slam just like the many variations of socialism will end up on the trash heap of history as neither one contributes to the betterment of the human race.

I had the ability to have a pro Moslem employee to lose their job where I work, actually several in the last couple of years. And it will happen again more than likely.

Dempsey has no authority to give such an order. The Combatant Commanders report to the Sec Def and the President. CJCS is basically the liaison between these commanders and the National Command Authority.

"the course content, the guest speakers, and the method of instruction" for the course was all approved by the the Joint Forces Staff College "years ago."

If this is true we are witnessing the corruption of our military at the very top. No nation can survive if its military, like his judiciary, is not isolated and immunized from politics.

We have seen the politicization of the CIA in the leaks they generated in the run-up to the Iraq war. We have seen the politicization of our judiciary by Obama's appointments to the supreme court and the decline into burlesque of the Ninth Circuit.

Now we see the corruption of our professional officer corps which was infected under the Clinton administration and only accelerated now by Obama. This rarely makes for a bumper sticker election issue but it is absolutely fundamental to the survival of the great nation.

Well, hold on: forget for a moment that this is about "Islam." the Army or ant military branch has, and always has had, authority to set curricula. If this course had guidelines in place---AS ALL MY COURSES DO AT A PRIVATE CATHOLIC COLLEGE---then we should b asking how he particularly violated the guidelines, not whether colleges can establish guidelines.

As for the "politicization" of the militarism, do you mean like when (for decades) the Army and Marines resisted greater use of automatic weapons because of the purported "American sharpshooter tradition" or when the Navy steadfastly refused to incorporate submarines because they weren't civilized, or when Patton was forced to go back to cavalry because of his advocacy of encirclement ran counter to what was taught in the war college? Our history is full of "politicized" policies going back to Lincoln's war order requiring McClellan to get off his ass. These may not be correct or prudent but this is not nothing new. In WW I a filmmaker was arrested for making a movie bout the Revolution because it had a scene depicting Brit soldiers doing bad things---because policy was you couldn't say bad things about an ally.
