The bicycle party known as Critical Mass turns 20 on Friday. Hundreds, possibly thousands, of riders in all manner of dress and - if recent history holds true, no dress at all - will band together for a commemorative, congestion-causing cruise through downtown San Francisco.
[snip]
Chris Carlsson, the Critical Mass spokesman, said he expects 5,000 to 10,000 riders on Friday, more than 10 times the number of riders who routinely participate.
"It's going to be a gigantic mess, but it is going to be fun," Carlsson said.

Gawd, I hate these friggin, arrogant, A-Holes.
I never, ever go to the city on the last Friday of the month.
I got stuck in their bullshit a couple of times years back and never forgot it.
Would have been to easy to get out of my car and just pick one of their asses to make an example of for the danger they setup and confusion they cause.
Wouldn’t do it because I’m safer in my little cocoon...Still....
I want to like San Francisco, I REALLY do...but there are so many weird people there.
Oh yeah. Here come the Critical Massholes.

Oh yeah. Here come the Critical Massholes.
I just noticed something: you can't spell "bike movement" without "BM."
I am so glad I live nowhere near Boulder, CO anymore... These “Critical mass” bike “rallies” were always such a pain to deal with.
Just as regularly someone runs them down ~
A CLUE!
Critical Mass is the best possible use for a snowplow. I see echelons of plows moving at flanking speed to clear the roads. The added advantage of this equipment is the sand spreaders could cover the residue.
I certainly hope that no one slips and falls by riding or stepping on some fresh KY jelly laying on the street.
HUH?
This takes place in San Francisco.
Possible it takes place in other areas of the country. Where is Highway 50.
There’s no reason for it to take place in San Francisco ~ more assertive driving by ordinary commuters would take care of that problem. I used my own local situation as an example. The bicyclists and pedestrians are never given the slightest opportunity to get the upper hand in traffic around here.
There is no reason for it to take place in SF. However, it does and they very militant.
They will kick your car, through something convenient at it, bump it with their bikes and even body.
They love to feign they were attacked and the driver is usually in the minor position, ticketed or arrested, because they have “Plenty of Witnesses”.
It’s very unnerving to be in it and I had a car get scraped as driving out of the city. I thought I had made it but, maybe 50 yards from the 4th street entrance to 101 I heard a noise and the fool that was on the bike turned his head, started laughing and then just kept on going.
So, I avoid the city on Fridays.
Like I said these people are never given a chance to get the upper hand around here, but in San Fran, where they are undoubtedly overrun with fascist pigs of all sorts, CM held hands with the class enemy so it's all OK i Suppose.
You need to move out of that place.
LOL
I don’t live there. I have do business there but last Friday of the month is a “No Go”.
