A sincerely remorseful person would not question his punishment, he’d accept it and make do the best he can. David Berkowitz is an example of sincere repentance. He’s never questioned his need to be incarcerated and he doesn’t even bother showing up for his parole hearings, which must take place by law.

He could still make something of himself within his prison walls if he wanted to.
