The only thing I want to see that cretin write is his signature on the assignment sheet for his permanent cell in Leavenworth!

What a truly remarkable film and tribute to freedom and the power of the individual to promote and defend it.

Through the personal journeys of these people, we're reminded that freedom isn't free and requires enormous courage to preserve.

The vileness of the murderous Bill Ayers and his confused and sophomoric musings provides a great counter-point. It was genius to include him.

I've noticed that you haven't been around here for a couple of years, AnnaZ.

Don't know why, but I'm thrilled to see that your great work continues.

Best to you and thanks for producing this wonderful film.

AnnaZ very kindly allowed me to preview her film the day before its official release. (Thank you, Anna!) She was (unjustly) nervous about how it would be received and wanted some feedback. I think she meant it as a figure of speech but she asked me to give her a review ... so I did. Here is my review and I meant every word of it.

I think you have done a wonderful job. You have incorporated too many points (in a subtle and masterful way) for me to speak to them all. Your editing leads the viewer smoothly and clearly through the evolution of thought of a radical leftist activist to their awakenings to a conservative POV.

Setting that journey against the contrasts of Ayers’ non-evolution of thought (good grief that man is a slug of an intellect) and Zo’s early awakening to logic and common sense (making him less a convert and more a continually awakening man of reason) gave the film a very rounded perspective on how various individuals awaken to reason (or never do in Ayers’ case) and how that reason naturally finds itself more comfortable with a conservative world view and among those who embrace it.

I was also struck with how comfortable your subjects were and how you elicited very honest responses from them relatively free of self-promotion and agenda-promotion. Without being leading or aggressive you illustrated your main points very effectively, IMO, and created a compelling storyline, with beginning, middle and end, into a documentary format.

Bravo!

Isn't that remarkable? That's exactly what I thought.

When I saw the title Revolution, I thought Arab Spring/Libya, and since I didn’t see any other Libya articles, I figured I would just post this interesting post-revolution in Libya complexities ping:

He looked like a nice guy in the interview.

Yeah, I always thought that formal portrait in his Communist Party tee and standing on the American flag in a trash-filled alley was so, like, kewl .....

Thanks for posting the pic of Jim Thompson with admirers, there, RonDog. Appreciate it.

Anna, if your feature runs 80+ minutes, I think you could call it feature-length now rather than a "two-reeler" or "three-reeler". I noticed two B- and A-list Hollywood efforts among the recent releases that came in at 81-83 minutes only. More that tilted the scales at 90-93 minutes. You may remember Jurassic Park III (my informal working title: Please Eat Tea Leoni!) a few years ago; that one was timecoded at 93 minutes.

Best of luck, Anna, and like they said -- "break a leg!"

Ron, do you know who the folks are in this photo? The woman and the guy in the Texas hat w/ the not-quite-legible slogan on his shirt?

You may or may not remember me as an early activist for Free Republic activism. I was originally involved with the Chi-com take over of our historical Naval Long Beach property. We won that one thanks to Sen. Inhofe and Congressman Hunter who made sure Clinton's new budget didn't allow for it.

Also, remember 1998 "March For Justice", as I was the central coordinator - the guy with the long hair pulled back in a pony tail on C-SPAN. I cut that mess off after 9/11/2001 to try and re-enlist - too old.

I remember Ted Hayes being at numerous FR activities after and he was very articulate in his denouncement of liberal/socialist ideologies. Forgot his organization name, but he was pretty much on his own at all those events and as I remember paid his own way. A good man with strong core values. Those were the days of the Free Republic Network created by Bob J that morphed out of the Freeper Action Network (FAN) that I and jolly created. Later came Veterans for Constitutional Restoration (VetsCoR).

Our VetsCoR slideshow of "support the troops" demonstrations during the build up to the Iraq war gave countless folks pride in American values once again. We shipped hundreds/couple thousand? of those discs all around the world and many in-country military couldn't be thankful enough. The best think I ever did, besides my 11 Aviation Navy during the Cold War.

All were good ideas, but couldn't get the funding or interest of the big pundits to promote such. We were novices in the political arena and couldn't get the support. Glad to see Ted Hayes is still doing his thing.

Anna, I apologize for going into my and other FR activities before watching your video.

You have done something that I've only dreamed about. You are now my hero. I love your dedication and all the work you put into this expose. BTW, great editing with background music. My only suggestion is that you edit further to get your point across succinctly. Some interviews were a little verbose and didn't get to the point. Still, a wonderful production.

If you ever want some input or assistance on you next production, please keep me in mind. I've since learned more from my old VetsCoR "With Love and Affection" slideshow on the home page of Free Republic. I've also learned some things from movies/TV about production values, interview editing while maintaining context, editing the entire production, and mostly how to get a point of view across without sounding biased, as you did so well.

Anna, what do you think about doing something regarding the differences between free enterprise versus socialism? This is something you could do and needs to be produced in a simple way that non-political types can understand. Think Jay-Walking where he asks people on the street the most elementary questions and they usually flub the question.

I would be willing to help support such an effort in a small financial way and other ways. Rodger Hunter USN (1975-1986) Ps. Anna, please let me know via Freepmail if you would like to confer on your next project or maybe mine regarding ideologies. You could make a huge impact on those who don't understand the benefits and drawbacks of capitalism versus socialism. It's time to counter our acadamia who are brain-washing our children. I can lead, follow, or just give input, while dealing with data on the computer.
