"I don’t think there’s any meat on their plates."

No, there are chicken breasts on the plates. The little girls chicken has been cut up (by mom, no doubt). Everyone elses is sitting there whole.

The subtle detail in this ad is incredible, just incredible.

The food is nice and fresh, no doubt bought before the news of the father being laid off. The next meal is the one in question. The family is warm and dry, still in their house, last month's mortgage bill no doubt paid. Next month's will be a challenge.

This ad must be put on every station. Every liberal Obamatard will feel personal shame watching this ad. The truth to liberals is like throwing a pail of water on the Wicked Witch of the West.

No... they won't feel shame...

Under the thin facade of compassion and concern is a totalitarian streak...

Their compassion level is directly tied to what political position people hold...

Wrong position...no soup for you...

North Korea concentration camps are full of millions who have the wrong position...

Liberals given the opportunity to silence the right...we would be on box cars heading to our re-education facilities...I have no doubt about it

The Dems will run a counter-ad with Obama showing up at the door handing them their food stamp card, an unemployment check, and a promise to pay their mortgage for them.

No, there are chicken breasts on the plates.

This was my plate when I was a kid in the '60s. Except that we didn't have chicken breast. We had ground meat. A pound of ground meat fed a family of 7. Spaghetti and meatballs? OK, maybe 2 small meatballs but they were made with meat, egg, bread crumbs, cheese, garlic, and a few other ingredients.

Mom knew how to stretch meat to feed the family. She knew because she (and Dad) grew up in the depression, when meat was what you got when the milking cow didn't give milk any more. Meat was what you got when the chicken stopped laying eggs. Meat was what you got when Dad found an errant duck.

That said (and I'm definitely not trying to belittle the ad), the ad is powerful because it reminds me of those times. It reminds me of when steak was a very rare occurrence. Of when 2 or 3 ounces of meat was plenty. It reminds me of how hard things were when I was a kid, and how hard things are for those that aren't making a living these days.

I like it...
