President Barack Obamas campaign, eager to bank as many early votes as possible in Florida, is launching an unprecedented program to encourage supporters to vote by absentee ballot right away.
The "Vote Now!" initiative aims to spread the word that voters can go to their local elections office, request an absentee ballot, and complete and return the ballot on the spot. That option has been available for years, but this is the first time a campaign has organized a statewide effort to promote the process.
"Were encouraging voters to not wait and cast their ballot today," said Ashley Walker, Florida director of the Obama for America campaign. "We will be utilizing all of the resources we have available to us to ensure folks know about this option, and understand how it works. We want to make this election as easily accessible and open to any eligible voter as possible."
Walker said they will spread the word through phone banks, door-to-door canvassing and other outreach efforts.
The Legislature and Gov. Rick Scott last year cut the number of early voting days from 14 to eight and eliminated early voting on the Sunday before election day over the objections of Democratic leaders. The Florida Obama campaign decided in response to make more of a push on absentee ballots, and encourage people to treat them much like in-person early voting, which doesnt start until Oct. 27.
....Pasco County elections supervisor Brian Corley earlier this month said many voters were confused about a recorded call from the Obama campaign encouraging them to visit their elections office, request absentee ballots, and cast them on the spot. He said some voters did not understand the difference between voting at early voting sites, which begins Oct. 27, and voting in-person using absentee ballots, which is already underway.....

Powerful testimony: "Pastors furious with Obama over gay marriage."
Nationwide, I’d make a guess that half the black ministers strongly disagree with the President’s changed position and refuse to participate with any voting help or appeal to their congregations to vote in his favor.
If you had to pick one of the bigger mistakes in the run-up to this election...jumping over on this topic might have gained tens of millions from the Hollywood elite, but he probably lost 500k votes om the process.
The black actresss political views prompted a backlash from fans online.
One Twitter user ranted, Youre an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. Youre voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot. Another responded, I guess Clueless star Stacey Dash endorsing Mitt Romney shows that she is indeed clueless.
Dash responded to her detractors with a simple tweet: My humble opinion EVERYONE is entitled to one.
Dash, who appeared on CNNs Piers Morgan Tonight on Tuesday, said shes concerned about the state of the country and wants the next four years to be different.
Dash also told Morgan that GOP vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan reached out to her and thanked her for her support."
Black Christians who vote for Obama knowing his crimes against Christianity and biblical principles have chosen to worship the idol of racial loyalty over their discipleship to Jesus Christ. Pure and simple.
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."-Exodus20:3
Incredibly, some blacks have completely forsaken their Christianity for Obama. A fellow PK(preacher's kid) said her parents recently changed their stance on same-sex marriage in support of their black president. I find this remarkable.
Though I disagree, I have been sympathetic and understanding with black seniors who have suffered dearly, with hearts still bearing scars of racial injustice.
A year or so ago, I hosted the first Black Conservative Press Conference at the National Press Club in D.C. Several prominent black conservatives from numerous black conservative groups/organizations spoke. My brother brought my 84-year-old black dad from Baltimore. That evening, Dad said, "Everything I heard today is true. But, because of racism I suffered in my youth, I can not turn against Obama."
At that time, I respectfully gave my hero, my preacher dad, a pass. Some may criticize me, saying, Lloyd, either you stand for conservatism or you do not. While you may have a valid point, it is in my DNA to respect my parents. How do you respectfully tell your usually character-driven parent that his decision to support Obama, no matter what, is rooted in racism and a refusal to forgive?
But now that Obama has been exposed as the most anti-Christian president in U.S. history, senior black Christians must no longer be given a pass for supporting this man.
At stake...."
At this moment, if you go to the RCP ‘create your own map’ ... start with no tossups, then just flip Virginia and Ohio.
6 Weeks ago, this exercise took about 15 minutes per run to figure out a path.
Now ... just Virginia and Ohio ...
... they will do anything to create the illusion of OJO’mentum in FL ... always smoke and mirrors with them, never think to get a vote with a simple honest policy or position.
Remember the video, released the night before last week's debate, from June 5, 2007? The one where Obama alleged to a black audience that the federal government had not waived the Stafford Act requirements for New Orleans after Katrina like they did for New York after 9/11 or for Florida after Hurricane Andrew? The implication was obviously that this was because the federal government doesn't care as much about New Orleans or its "predominantly black" inhabitants.
Thomas Sowell clears up a bit about the president's then, ahem, "confusion" on this matter in his latest piece at Townhall:
"If you want to know what community organizers do, this is it -- rub people's emotions raw to hype their resentments. And this was Barack Obama in his old community organizer role, a role that should have warned those who thought that he was someone who would bring us together, when he was all too well practiced in the arts of polarizing us apart.
Why is the date of this speech important? Because, less than two weeks earlier, on May 24, 2007, the United States Senate had in fact voted 80-14 to waive the Stafford Act requirement for New Orleans, as it had waived that requirement for New York and Florida. More federal money was spent rebuilding New Orleans than was spent in New York after 9/11 and in Florida after hurricane Andrew, combined.
Truth is not a job requirement for a community organizer. Nor can Barack Obama claim that he wasn't present the day of that Senate vote, as he claimed he wasn't there when Jeremiah Wright unleashed his obscene attacks on America from the pulpit of the church that Obama attended for 20 years.
Unlike Jeremiah Wright's church, the U.S. Senate keeps a record of who was there on a given day. The Congressional Record for May 24, 2007 shows Senator Barack Obama present that day and voting on the bill that waived the Stafford Act requirement. Moreover, he was one of just 14 Senators who voted against -- repeat, AGAINST -- the legislation which included the waiver."
Not only was the Stafford Act waived by Congress two weeks before Barack Obama went all Kanye West in this speech in 2007, but Barack Obama voted against the bill that waived it. ........................"
Anybody else uncomfortable with the concept of “early voting” in the first place?
Seems like you create a larger opportunity to commit voter fraud.
I’d like to see a study that compares early voting with ‘above 100%’ voter participation and see if there is a correlation.
For example, last election there were counties in Ohio that had more votes than eligible voters. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was widespread in areas that participate in early voting.
All these vote counters are "politically connected" folks.
Vote early and often, and by mail.
Vote NOW! Vote before you actually witness Obama screw the pooch on TWO more debates.
I sure am. Whatever happened to ELECTION DAY!! Quick get those votes in before the next debate where he shows us what an idiot he is for a second time.
Team Obama: “Don’t wait . . . till the next debate.”
Something to consider before everyone hyperventilates on this news is the ballot is four pages long in Duval County alone. There are other counties that may be even longer due to additional local issues as well.
With that said, the Supervisor of Elections has been getting the word out weeks ago to encourage as many people as possible to request absentee or to vote during the early voting week to mitigate the probable long lines because people will be at the voting booth for up to 20 minutes each if they don’t come prepared on election day.
Well, the early absentee numbers from FL are showing the same trends.
Well, the early absentee numbers from FL are showing the same trends.
There is something extremely unsettling about his lies. I understand all pols have to lie to some extent, but he is so brazen.
What is involved in obtaining an absentee ballot?
Do you just simply ask for and receive one?
Is ID required to obtain one? (probably not)
Is name and address verified when the ballot is sumitted?
How easy would it be to request several for “my invalid grandparents, out of state college student, etc.?”
What happens to these ballots once they are mailed in?
Who KEEPS them until election day?
For that matter, where are they stored and where are early vote ballots stored?
I’m in favor of early voting, but only for ONE DAY before election day, preferably the Saturday before election day.
