State Dept. Meltdown at Benghazi Hearing
Commentary ^ | 10/10/2012 | Alana Goodman

The Obama administration’s Benghazi response continued to unravel at the House Oversight Committee hearing today, as State Department officials struggled unsuccessfully to get their stories straight.

Ambassador Patrick Kennedy defended UN Ambassador Susan Rice’s claim on September 16 that the attack was part of a spontaneous protest that erupted over an anti-Islam video, saying that anyone at the State Department would have said the same thing as Rice based on the intelligence available at the time. “If any administration official, including any career official, were on television on Sunday, September 16, they would have said what Ambassador Rice said. The information she had at that point from the intelligence community is the same that I had at that point,” said Kennedy.

But, as Republicans on the Oversight Committee pointed out, that appears to contradict Kennedy’s comments from a September 12 unclassified briefing, when he reportedly called it a terrorist attack.

Another State Department official, Charlene Lamb, wrote in her prepared testimony (but did not read aloud) that she was able to monitor the attack “in almost real-time” once a Diplomatic Security agent activated the imminent danger notification system. Yet she didn’t explain why the State Department and other administration officials initially said spontaneous protests were responsible for the attack, if there had been officials monitoring it in real-time.

“If any administration official, including any career official, were on television on Sunday, September 16, they would have said what Ambassador Rice said. The information she had at that point from the intelligence community is the same that I had at that point,” said Kennedy.

= = =

Then, Mr. Kennedy, please provide the intelligence information that stated that the attack was due to a YouTube video.

Or, could it be that no such intelligence exists and she was working on orders from someone else to promote these false statements?

That apology tour should cost more than the 75,000. commercial. The other embassies weren’t attacked until after our people, news agencies went around claiming it was the video. Before the Cairo apology tweets and our news, State dept etc—it was only Cairo. They spread danger, destruction and humiliation for the US with their bogus claims.

"...she was working on orders from someone else to promote these false statements?"

This has president Valerie Jarrett's fingerprints all over it.

The question not asked (AFAIK):

Mr. Kennedy: Did you have a specific intelligence input that provided evidence that the attack was a result of the 15 minute video? If so, who provided that evidence to you?

or in simpler terms:

Mr. Kennedy: Where did you hear that the likely cause of the violence in Libya was due to a spontaneous uprising in response to the 15 minute video? Who provided you that information.

Mr. Kennedy, why was the effort to recover 15K manpads with local help abandoned?

Good Question.

Attention Freepers everywhere. Tonight's assignment is to do opposition research. You need to cover MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC and ABC looking, likely in vain, for coverage of todays Benghazi hearings. Report back immediately after detecting any signs of actual news.

Lies, damned lies, and more lies, and bigger lies.

The key for The Regime™ is to manufacture lies fast enough that they just overwhelm the truth. As long as MSM reprints their lies without raising questions, then the lies stand until they are debunked. They can only be debunked one at a time, so the lies will overwhelm the truth.

Goebbels would be proud!

Correspondent:

When did the White House learn that there was no protest in Benghazi?(about the video)

Obama's Spoke Kinder:

We've been very forthright on the information that we've had based on not opinion, not on what folks have said or want to say on television but on assessments by those who make these assessments for the U.S. government and we have discussed all along he fact that our assessments are preliminary and that they will change based on new information that's become available

What enrages me (today) is the statement that they had the “correct number of assets in place” for the embassy security.

I would say that the results prove otherwise, and only an idiot would stand by that statement. At least say “we thought we had the correct number of assets in place”.

UGHHHH
