Corporal Sean Jones, 25, of 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales's Regiment, "reversed a potentially dire situation" when his patrol came under attack in a carefully planned ambush in October last year.
Firing a rocket at one of the insurgent positions, Cpl Jones ordered three of his men to fix bayonets before breaking cover and leading them across 80 metres of open ground raked by enemy fire. . .

But Obama said we don’t have bayonetes anymore. We have these ships called aircraft carriers that we can land planes on.
What a timely article
I read that Obama stated that Navy ships are like horses and bayonets.
Is that correct?
I can't find the whole quote.
OBAMA: You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our militarys changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines. And so the question is not a game of Battleship, where were counting ships.
Subs are actually classified as boats. If you're going to be Commander-in-Chief of the military, it might help to be a little less ignorant.
I want to see those amazing boats that go under water.
That is just *so* Jules Verne!

Next thing you know, he’ll be telling us we no longer have ‘dogs of war’.
That's how history will ultimately have to see Obama. In four years he has run off all the smart people and surrounded himself with mediocre hacks. This is because he distrusts anyone he suspects might be smarter than him. Rham Emanuel is the sharpest political strategist the Democrats have. Obama had him as a right hand man. Emanuel's problem was he told Obama the truth. And the list goes on.
We used to say: “Shot at and missed, sh*t at and hit.”
> If you’re going to be Commander-in-Chief of the military, it might help to be a little less ignorant.
Not possible. Obama couldn’t be less informed and less ignorant. He’s a slacker and it’s not in the nature of a slacker.
Obama’s comment about “ships” that go underwater, instead of using the preferred designation of “boats”, showed how much he really “cares” about the Navy. He sounded like an arrogant big brother attempting to bully his younger brother.
I had the picture in my mind that, to Obama, submarines are nothing more than the little plastic boats you used to get in a box of cereal. You put baking powder in them and played with them in the bathtub. They would miraculously rise to the surface (courtesy of the baking soda). The boy king is playing games in the bathtub (or on the golf course) rather than doing his homework and leading the free world. God help us!
“Shot at & missed....”
Haven’t heard that in years! Very much in use in Vietnam.
I want to know if obama thinks they are manned by "Corpse - men".
Sometimes a charge is still called for. The US Army made it’s last Cavalry charge in December 1941 during the Phillipines campaign, a unit of the 26th Cavalry (PS)* charged a Japanese unit and broke up an attack. A rare bright spot in that campaign.

Does an Air Craft Carrier become a Submarine if it goes under water because there was no Aegis Cruiser to protect it from a Sunburn missile or is the concept of a Task Force above his pay grade?
He is someone who can never wear the title CIC with any more merit than his Nobel Prize.
