Although I agree with you about the country being in much better shape had Goldwater won in '64, I would really like for us not to accept the color scheme switch that the left has foisted upon us. Conservatives should not be associated with the color red. Red is for commies and commie sympathizers, like the Democrats. This Orwellian Doublespeak where conservatives are angry commie red and liberals are soothing blue must stop. I refuse to say I live in the Red state of Texas. I live in the true-blue state of Texas where we believe in the constitution and all things American.

I’d like to see an electoral map exactly like that again. Sadly, I figure it won’t be in the remainder of my lifetime.

I agree completely. The color red has long represented Communism and its equally evil twin, Fascism. I grew up in the era of "...better dead than red..." but the lamestream media, buckling under to their Marxist masters, foisted this outlandish color scheme on us. Somewhere Noam Chomsky is fiendishly grinning at the mockery.
