Kids say the darndest things. But sometimes they say shocking things.
On Thursday, 9-year-old Brandon did the latter when he was asked why he wanted President Barack Obama to win a second term outside a campaign rally featuring First Lady Michelle Obama in Daytona, Fla.
“Because if Mitt Romney win, we’ll be going back to the crop fields,” Brandon said, referring to the days of slavery. “We’ll be picking crops.”
The father can be heard off-camera laughing. Obviously, no 9-year-old child would determine through their own reasoning that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney would send African-Americans “back to the crop fields.”
“We need Obama to win, because Obama was our president for how many years? Three years. And we need him to win because he’s a good president,” the boy added.

I’m too old but I’d happily “go back to the crop fields” like I did when I was a much younger man.
Somebody should have asked this kid if he knows who picks those crops now.
The only thing this kid is going to pick is his nose.

Uh oh, it’s get whitey time. Anyone else notice that the cable networks are coincidentally showing Missisippi Burning lately? I happen to be flipping through Cinemax or Starz last night and sure enough there was super lib Willem Dafoe playing the role of idealistic G Man. You know it’s getting hairy out there when they drum up fear of the white man again.

He’d better hope Obama gets re-elected, because I’d sure as hell never hire him for anything.
FWIW, I have a few “Brandons”, but they’re white, and they’ll hear much worse about Obama.
My children are learning the politics of race earlier than I ever wanted them to, but I won’t risk their lives at this point by ignoring the hatred felt by some blacks for anyone white (including, apparently, Brandon’s “father”).
