It’s the communists/socialists/liberals that want you picking crops.
The capitalists/free marketers/conservatives have farm equipment to do that, they want you to have a higher paying job in town, so you can buy more of their stuff!
Yep, capitalists believe in capital... ie, labor saving equipment.
Of course, to a “work makes you free” communist, “labor saving” is a bad thing.

My first thoughts were about Cambodia too. Betcha our commie teachers are not even mentioning what communism did to that population after takeover. Or what Stalin did to his people, or Mao to his, etc, etc.
