In any investigation the first thing you look for is motive. Who would want to kill Stevens and the other Americans? What we know now is that there is good reason to believe that Steven was involved in running military hardware through Turkey into Syria, the objective being the arming of Islamic militant fighters trying to bring down Assad. Why would the Islamic fighters want to kill a supplier of weaponry? If fighters were not the driving force behind this then who else would have a motive to stop the munitions supplying activity? The answer is Assad and those aligned with him. The big player in this picture is Russia. Putin had the motive and the means to take out the Americans and use the Islamic fighters as cover. This does not mean that Islamist did not do the fighting and killing, but the Russians likely were behind it. We know that Putin does not want Syria to become an Islamic run country. If Syria falls, Russia would sustain major economic and national security losses in the Region, including the only coastal port city they have outside Russia at Tartus.

I thought this at first, and it is a possibility, but I think it’s too complex.

THE TESTS OF TRUTH
1. Logical consistency.
2. Agreement with experience.
3. Economy of explanation.

The Russian/Syrian angle takes a lot of time to explain. Look at what Erik Latani (sp?) wrote above. That is a simpler explanation.
