A cadaver in the ocean is often set upon by hagfish, "the most disgusting sea animal", that burrow into the cadaver and eat their way out, while producing copious amounts of disgusting slime to drive away other scavengers. An adult hagfish can secrete enough slime to turn a bucket of water into slime in minutes.
