The left is giggling themselves silly with the idea of separation, but their understanding of history is shallow.

The Confederates were the slave states. The analogy in the modern context are the Democrat-controlled areas of the United States, where the powerful elite sit astride a mass of poor people. The wealthy of the Upper West Side are aligned with the poor of the Bronx and Brooklyn. The Confederates had actual slaves yoked to the state; the modern liberal elites have enslaved people to the state with the promise of free material goods in exchange for votes. Yes, the analogy is imperfect, but then history doesn’t repeat itself; only the themes of history repeat themselves.

Not that I would want CWII. A peaceful separation like the one between the Slovaks and the Czechs would be preferred. Maybe it’ll be like the breakup of the old Soviet Union - the left won’t have the stomach for a fight, and in a twinkling the original republic will evaporate. Maybe we’ll be less fortunate, with some horrific spots like Bosnia and other places like Slovenia peacefully parting the ways.

In any way, I see the left as the Confederates in this upcoming battle. They think they have everything they need for an easy victory. We’re the union - coming to the table disorganized, arguing among ourselves, unwilling to stop the opposition.

However, the issue is the same as it was back then. Either we live as free people, or we live enslaved to the state. We can’t have both ideologies in the same place.

God help us.

The blue staters only get the sliver of land on the west coast that is blue. The rest of the west coastal states need to be split east/west to allow the red state counties to join their red interior bretheren.

I refuse to accept the Left’s Jedi Mind trick. We are true BLUE Americans loyal to the Constitution and they are commie RED Bolshevik collectivists. We are not the RED states, people! We are the BLUE states....Don’t believe me? Here:

What great memories! I was young, but I remember this night fondly.

The commie libs did not want to be associated with their true color -— RED! Let’s stop accepting their mind tricks.

What is stupid about this writer is that almost all of the territory of Washington is red. Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia are blue. That’s it. Good luck extending your liberal mandate across the cascades to eastern Washington. They would secede and either join Idaho or start their own state.

Another thing I am getting sick of is the notion that dem-controlled states are subsidizing repub-controlled states. I am sure after careful analysis, you would find out that most of those transfer payments that go repub-controlled states mostly go to dem constituencies. This also true in dem-controlled states as well. So don’t blame repubs, blame the dems and the dependent class they created in all sections of the country.

I like the comment about Alaska :-)

"We've been asked by the citizens of Austin, Texas, to give them sanctuary, so we'll keep Austin as a territorial protectorate..."

The hell you will. You can have your worthless blue minions, and we'll keep the sacred ground of Texas, thank you very much.

The more I think my way through the concept of secession, the more I like the idea. Here’s why:

When the regime begins to push our people harder than they’re now doing, and when the coming economic hardships and regulatory insanity cause even greater levels of anger, disillusionment, and resolve amongst the people to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, I think we may see one or more red state legislatures finally draft Acts of Secession, which will then be signed by all legally vested parties and presented to Washington.

Should Texas lead the way to the exits, I predict that at least half a dozen other states will follow in rapid succession, joining Texas in a new American Union. This would all be done without a single drop of blood shed between the rebellious states and the federals. This is the 21st century, not the 19th. No blood will be spilled over this purely political divorce.

Once several red states have disengaged themselves from the parasitic maw of Washington, the old union states will begin to falter, as the economic engine that feeds the Socialist system in this country will be too starved to meet its obligations. More red states will flee as the days darken. Collapse and calamity in the blue states will ensue, as generationally crippled millions feed upon each other, then storm the gates of power, demanding to be fed.

Sheer bedlam will rule, and the statist infrastructure will crumble under the weight of too little real production, and too many takers to sustain.

When the old union reaches that level of failure, we can expect to see passionate entreaties to the former red states to reunite with the old union in a restored constitutional republic. Leftist ideals will be cast aside and burned, as reality proves what falsehoods they always were. Imagine an entire nation ‘mugged by reality.’

It’s at this point, that I see the re-unification of the country, and a restoration of our constitutional republic.

Seceded States are probably the only borders the Feds would try to enforce. Might solve a lot of problems if all the States that abut the Mexican border were involved and then enforced their borders....

My sis says the conservatives should take over Cuba and move there. Take the true America there. The Cubans would love having their freedom and would assimilate well as liberty-loving citizens.

“And no hard feelings, but what this means is that we'll own 86 percent of America's venture capital and have 92 percent of the young entrepreneurs. For the first time ever, we'll get to keep 100 percent of our tax revenue (go ahead, look it up), and for the first time ever you'll get the satisfaction of paying for your own schools, hospitals, military bases, bridges, highways, dams and flood control. This may strike you as a real hardship, but trust us on this one: Paying for your own stuff can be incredibly rewarding.”

This snarky piece of shiite REALLY believes that if this happened the ‘86 percent of America's venture capital and have 92 percent of the young entrepreneurs’ would stay in his Blue State gulag! This moron doesn't factor in reality because liberals never do and the snarkier they are the more stupid they get. If this ever happened the ‘makers’ would run out of their plantations faster than you could say “TAX THE RICH.”

Assuming New Hampshire chooses to side with the Commie States of America (not a sure thing IMO) the only place I could live is North Carolina.I hate heat and humidity so Georgia, etc, etc would be out and the Midwest is a bit too “rural” for me.But I like that map showing all the red states in the middle of the country with the caption “just how much food do they grow inside the beltway?”

Looks to me like there will be a natural process (hope it’s accelerated) of cities going bankrupt. These will be blue cities like Detroit in states where most of the rest of the people are conservative. Let them go bankrupt and just stay out of them. The violence will start there.

I love this secession plan. Just think, The RED country would be so fabulous and the BLUE country would suck big time. So there would be all these liberals trying to sneak into the RED country. The BLUE country would implode and we could take it over.

Some places seriously studying secession are Scotland, Flanders, Catalonia and the Basque (Quebec might be back at it again).

Dividing up the existing debt and obligations is the tough nut to crack. Will all the people in states that leave lose their Social security? They won’t vote for that. Must secessionists make a payment plan for their share of the National Debt?

Communism is all about taking other people’s stuff, so they will want an extortionate settlement.

It is not just a one shot deal. After separation, things will continue to change as different policies take effect.

The productive will try to migrate to where they can keep more of what they earn. The unproductive will want to migrate to where benefits are bigger. As the cash crunch worsens, barriers will go up - both legal and physical, to keep wealth and the productive from leaving. Additional States may want to change sides.

The Left could give us the states with the lowest amounts of resources and if we were able to implement economic freedom w/o the burden of the collectivist social welfare state, we would pull ahead very quickly.
