Report: Kellogg Foundation, SEIU funded attacks on Voter ID laws
The Daily Caller ^ | 12-4-12 | David Martosko

Posted on 12/04/2012 8:26:30 AM PST by afraidfortherepublic

A progressive foundation and a labor union have combined to pour millions of dollars into a “racial justice” group that was hostile to voter ID laws during the 2012 campaign season, according to a conservative watchdog group in Wisconsin.

While True the Vote and other right-leaning campaigns were promoting ID requirements for voters and monitoring the implementation of ID laws at the state level, the Applied Research Center (ARC) was pushing back with claims that photo ID requirements at polling places were thinly veiled expressions of racism.

Media Trackers, the conservative Wisconsin group, reported Monday that the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, founded by breakfast cereal magnate Will Keith Kellogg in 1930, committed $5.2 million to ARC between 2010 and September 2012.

And in an unusually overt collaboration, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) paid ARC more than $200,000 in 2011, Media Trackers reported, earmarking the financial transfers as ”consulting” fees.

Voter ID laws are generally supported by Republican politicians and opposed by Democrats. The SEIU, like other large labor unions, campaigned aggressively for President Barack Obama’s re-election.

Colorlines.com, an ARC website, created an election-year program in 2012 with the liberal magazine The Nation to provide “in-depth coverage of voter suppression efforts nationwide.”

Progressives have maintained that voter ID laws’ hidden purpose is to depress the voting power of racial minorities. Brentin Mock, a columnist at The Nation and reporter for the Colorlines.com “Voting Rights Watch 2012″ project, wrote in October that requiring black voters to obtain a photo ID “eerily echo[es] literacy tests” and other Jim Crow laws.

True the Vote is a conservative nonprofit, founded to monitor polling places for integrity issues. Its website highlights voter fraud convictions in 46 states, and encouraged voters on Nov. 6 to report suspicious or fraudulent activity at polling places.

The group also combs voter rolls to look for deceased Americans, and for counties where the number of registered voters exceeds the adult population.

In response, ARC and other progressive groups have denied that voter fraud is pervasive in the United States. Mock accused True the Vote in May of using a “hoax — voter fraud — to block voting rights” of minorities.

Media Trackers noted that in the press release announcing the launch of Voting Rights Watch 2012, ARC executive director Rinku Sen complained of “attempts to deny the vote to communities of color.”

Sen is also a board member of Working America, a community organizing affiliate of the powerful and wealthy AFL-CIO labor union conglomerate.

The Kellogg Foundation launched its “American Healing” program in 2011, billed as a “racial equity initiative.” That program’s 2011 and 2012 conferences included presentations from ARC, La Raza, the NAACP, and other racialist groups.

The foundation and its principal financial trust reported combined assets of $7.58 billion for the fiscal year ending in August 2011, according to data provided to The Daily Caller by FoundationSearch.com. It awarded $28.3 million in “racial equity” grants in 2011, and has reported adding to that another $9 million so far in 2012.

Attacks on proposals for voter ID? Only a part of it:

Can't you just imagine this was the scene with Obama and his Commie staff after stealing the election through voter fraud- while Conservatives blame Romney, argue, point fingers, blather on about who to run in four years, 'starting a new party', and try to figure out how to suck up to minorities the 'next time'?

As close as elections usually are, if you take away the dead voters, the multiple voters, and the illegal alien voters, the Democrats would have o find another way to win elections!

let me put it this way, Obama could have cheated like crazy and still beat Romney.

The GOP-e owns this one just like Stassen, Willkie, Dewey, Ford, Dole, Bush (pappy) and McCain. They also have a share in the first Nixon fail, and if you'll accept the idea that Goldwater wasn't a full Conservative (just defense and budget), they own those losses as well!

On the other hand, almost any Conservative could have beaten Obama with no problem.

Until LBJ came along Democrats didn't realize you could win elections simply by registering more Democrats and getting them out to vote.

They actually thought it was ideology and charismatic personality, plus great national calamities, that brought them votes FOR Democrats. They really didn't believe in the existence of Democrat Voters! That's one of the reasons they chated so hard all the time.

We continue to have this problem with Republicans ~ they think you go out and campaign and win people to your side that way. Never once do these loonietunes think that all they have to do is find Republican Voters, get them registered, and get them to show up to vote for them.

It was the great contribution of Goldwater to American political theory to advance the idea that there wasn't just one big old normal curve made up of voters to be won ~ that there were two great poles of politics in our societ ~ and it was the great contribution of LBJ to prove that Goldwater was right ~ and that large factions could be brought from one pole to the other with a big enough issue ~ so he promised black voters another civil rights act for 1965 if he won with their votes in 1964. They moved and they haven't been back.

BTW, LBJ got 97%. JFK only got 75% ~ there was still a large black Republican faction in 1964 ~ and it moved to the Democrat column!

I think the fact Romney lost so effortlessly rather underscores the Goldwater political theory (and the LBJ corollary) ~ there is no undecided 10% in the middle ~ 'cause 'air ain't no middle! And nobody is undecided!

'Obama could have cheated like crazy and still beat Romney'

No. He couldn't. He didn't.

America has been taken over by a Marxist coup. The criminal Obama machine made it impossible for any Republican to win- no matter how 'perfect' he was.

Almost every major Conservative website has put out an article charging voter fraud- BreitBart, American Thinker, Atlas Shrugs, WND, The Blaze, Front Page Magazine, Fox News, The Daily Caller, Town Hall, Human Events..

>Polls indicated that Romney was going to win the election.

>The economy is close to Great Depression era conditions, and unemployment is almost as high as when Obama entered office.

>Economic conditions became so dire after Obama took office it prompted the rise of an entire new movement, the Tea Party.

>Presidents rarely win reelection when the economy is in the tank.

>Mitt knew it too, when he was met by several thousand in that parking garage cheering him when he arrived unannounced at that airport, and he put his hand over his heart and said, 'This is how you know you've won'.

So how did Romney lose a race that numerous reputable polls and pundits predicted would be an easy win, based on historical patterns?

Massive voter fraud.

That and no other reason

These elections are NOT certified yet. The only way to get this investigated, much less recounted or overturned, is through the Secretary of State of each of the five key states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER STATE you can help. But it won’t do any good to dilute our effort to challenge California or Michigan or other states. Until a major group gets involved to do more, here is the plan: Contact the Secretary of State of the state in question. See contact information below...

The Kellogg Foundation, like most big foundations are not connected to the business that made the fortune of its founders. Most were started with good intentions, but generations later were captured by liberals that got on the controlling boards. Ford, Rockefeller, Howard Hughes, etc are all funding leftist stuff the founders never would have backed.

Conservatives are too busy with family and hard work to make money to worm their way into college leadership, government bureaucracy or the non-profit foundation stuff. We have ignored what now have become levers of leftist power. Too bad as opinion making is what got the left in permanent control of our USA.

In a race where the Republicans could not help but sweep all before them a bunch of fools with money behind them ran the most inept candidate since McCain ~ and lost.

Sorry, no surprises here.

We have to replace the big dead rich guy trusts with some basic inheritance requirements ~ e.g. when you die all your wealth at or above the 98th percentile has to go to your closest 500 blood relatives (details to follow).

That would allow family owned businesses to continue to exist and to compete against large corporate interests.

Of course I would like to have seen Newt,Palen or even Santorum as a candidate- just like everyone else.
Mitt was not my first choice, but he was what we had.
Mitt is a decent man (if not hard line Conservative) and ran a good campaign.

Nobody could have beaten the criminal Obama machine, and the major Conservative websites have each issued an article agreeing with me that, indeed, massive voter fraud was behind the defeat of Romney.

Everyone can conjure up a scenario about Democrat vote fraud. Now, how about conjuring up a scenario about Democrat voter registration ~ remember this, if Democrats cheat in Illinois and Pennsylvania and Massachusetts and New York and New Jersey and Maryland and California ~ and several other states ~ that's not news and really doesn't matter since they actually do have enough Democrat voters to win anywhere they really want to win.

Ohio is a bit different ~ Cleveland and the Mahoning Valley are or all intents and purposes Communist party enclaves inside the USA. They really don't have to cheat to turn out Democrat votes. In much of the rest of the state it is theoretically possible to turn out enough Republicans every single race to win all but a handful of legislative and Congressional seats BUT the party needs to invest in voter registration drives.

With the Presidential money and personnel taking the lead regarding how the total campaign was to be run in Ohio, I think the voter registration drives weren't conducted ~ again, remember, Romney was campaigning for the votes of the non existent 10% of undecided moderates!

You might have also noticed that we didn't win the 23 open Senate seats ~ that's how big Romney's coat-tails were ~ total blow out. You gotta' have a much more charismatic and interesting candidate with some attractive ideas if you want to avoid that sort of disaster again!
