Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It's the season of giving and it's especially nice when the people on the receiving end have already given so much to protect our nation.
Wounded war veterans were given a well-deserved "thank you" at the Palazzo Wednesday afternoon.
Joined with the Armed Forced Foundation, veterans were greeted at the hotel with applause and cheers from hundreds of team members from the Palazzo and the Venetian.
Veterans came in with close family and loved ones; some physically supported or wheeled in due to injuries sustained in war.
Sheldon Adelson welcomed the men and women into his hotel and told them, for the next several days, they would be treated like "high rollers."
Action News met with Leslie Richardson, who suffered a spinal cord injury, and has served in several wars starting with the first Gulf War.
At Wednesday's event, Richardson reacted to the gratitude shown with gratitude of her own, "I wanted to weep. Get somewhere and weep. But then you know, I wanted to greet the people and thank them for all their support that they have shown the military personnel around the world."
Richardson also said she is ready to have fun this weekend.
Also affected in a very good way, the hundreds of staff members who said they feel honored to serve these veterans.
"You can't say anything but thank you. They do so much. They make everything possible that we can do to our freedom, for everything. It's all because of them," said Randi Smith, front desk at the Palazzo.
This is the sixth year the Venetian and Palazzo has hosted this program and flown veterans out, put them up and treated them to shows and food.
Wonder how al-Qaeda would deal with unions?
