When National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre took the stage on Friday to address the media about last weeks elementary school massacre, he made it clear multiple times that the organization has issues with how the press reports on guns.
At one point, LaPierre said the media demonize lawful gun owners, amplify their cries for more laws and fill the national debate with misinformation and dishonest thinking.
If the NRA doesnt like reporters, the feeling is apparently mutual.
As Jeffrey Goldberg, a national correspondent for The Atlantic, put it:
Reporters on my Twitter feed seem to hate the NRA more than anything else, ever.

Here are some of the views expressed by reporters and editors from news outlets including Talking Points Memo, Politico, The New York Times and The Huffington Post on Twitter during LaPierres speech:
LaPierre as delusional as any dictator. His speech against music videos, hurricanes has the feel of a Castro rant or Mugabe tirade.
The Huffington Posts Jason Cherkis (@jasoncherkis) December 21, 2012
In Wayne LaPierres defense, tone-deafness is a serious condition that afflicts hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Wayne LaPierre should have just given this speech to an empty chair on a stage

No two ways about: This is gross, awful, dishonest.
Talking Points Memos Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) December 21, 2012
What is this NRA guy talking about? Blame hurricanes. Blame media. Its so strange.
Politicos Ben White (@morningmoneyben) December 21, 2012
This is nuts.
Talking Points Memos Ryan J. Reilly (@ryanjreilly) December 21, 2012
If it wasnt for all the dead children, the #NRA press conference might have been amusing.
The New York Times Jonathan Weisman (@jonathanweisman) December 21, 2012
Stallone movie meets Fidel Castro speech
Politicos Alex Burns (@aburnspolitico) December 21, 2012
Many of the same reporters were infuriated that the NRA wouldnt take questions.
Its amazing how much damage LaPierre is doing to the NRA without even allowing questions.
The Washington Posts Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) December 21, 2012
Reporters should walk out of this press conference right now, if hes not taking questions. Otherwise, its just a propaganda event. #Newtown

He understands how the game is played in Chicago.
The truth is getting out about guns and the evil ones are panicking that they are losing control of one of their big issues.
Is he talking about Obama's standard press conference?
Waah pansy reporters.
BE WARY OF THE MEDIA-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!
Barrack on a roll.......the Mayans were right..John Kerry was just nominated for Sec of State!

“His speech against music videos, hurricanes has the feel of a Castro rant or Mugabe tirade.”
That’s the first time any of them have said anything bad about Castro or Mugabe. By the way, both disarmed their people as soon as they gained power.
Wayne LaPerre needs to speak out. Those people are followers.
Parasites. All of them.
The funny thing about truth is that regardless of the narrative, it’s always there just waiting to be discovered.
Millions of Americans are realizing the truth about guns and the Second Amendment, and they are arming themselves for their own safety and that of their family.
I would bet my salary that a majority of those hemming and hawing about this news conference either A) live in a big city and drink the anti-gun Kool Aid every day or B) have armed security watching over them from bedroom to cubicle.
Those of us out here in the trenches understand that the police and the Federal leviathan not only don’t care about us but are part of the problem. They are simply there to clean up the mess made by the violent offenders and to do a root cause analysis to provide to people who supposedly make decisions. Just like in the IT world, a root cause analysis isn’t worth the paper on which it’s printed without action to address the root cause itself. Bandaid solutions and fixes that don’t fix anything are like putting a bandaid on a compound fracture or wrapping someone’s arm in gauze while they hemorrhage from their leg.
Assault Media
David Corn has never had a cogent thought in his head and his tweet today shows that that hasn’t changed.
We should start making a list of these pukes ~ and see if it's the same one as the JOURNOLIST crowd ~ bet it is.
I’m looking forward to the state-run media going after Hitlery and Obammie the Commie on Benghazi with the same passion.
(2) The security for the event was pathetic. Not only did disruptors get access, they were able to interrupt for very long periods of time before they were escorted out. The NRA should have been laser focused on security.
(3) He should have taken questions. Just because the president can walk off without questions and the press will still fawn over him does not mean that the NRA should do the same thing.
“Journalists slam NRA”??? LMFAO- since when were these pravda proud left wing parrots considered “journalists”???
Most of the media is an enemy every bit as dangerous as an invading army.
Over 10,000 new NRA members have signed up just today. I was on hold for 1 hour to renew mine and my wife’s membership. They are fired up and ready for battle on all fronts.
