Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said Thursday he won't seek a fourth term as leader of Minnesota's largest city, creating the first open race for the office in two decades.
Rybak's announcement came less than a year before voters in the city of almost 400,000 will choose a new mayor. Several potential candidates had been waiting on Rybak to make a decision before declaring whether they would run, and the field is likely to be large.
The decision also should ramp up speculation about Rybak's next political move. The 57-year-old Democrat has been mentioned as a possible addition to President Barack Obama's administration or a future contender for governor.

If so, he’s got a czar!
Great news for Minneapolis. Now maybe they’ll be able to spend money on needed things rather than bike paths, light rail, etc.
Google images of the Mayor. “Douche Bag” flew out of my mouth before it could be stopped. Hot Tub Barry will love having him close by.
Rumors are flying that there will be a place him in Obama’s regime. Bike Paths and Green Spaces for everybody!
The dirty little secret is that the bike paths in MPLS run through some of the worst neighborhoods and one cannot ride alone through these areas for fear of being knocked off of their bikes and then then mugged, or worse.
