So what are you suggesting?

That medication kept these perps just sane enough to plan an atrocity?

Should we withhold treatment so they go stark-raving mad instead?

I am thankful for drugs that prevent full-blown psychosis. There is no reason to think that these murderers would have been any less dangerous unmedicated. Rather, they might well have just acted sooner.

The issue is that the drugs don’t work the same way for everyone, and can stop working for a person.

The shooter was 20. He may have stopped taking his meds, cut the dosage, or they stopped working.

Meds won’t cure a condition, they treat the symptom. There are people who belong in institutions, non on meds.

And who knows whether they were even taking their prescribed meds if they were not in an institution.
