Of all the activities the federal government engages in, I think Defense is the most legitimate and the most important. But, having said that, anyone should know that waste, fraud, and abuse suck away far too much money. We COULD spend a lot less and get just as much bang for the buck. But we’d have to make some smart decisions ... and we probably won’t.

I assure you that some of the most effective programs were cut a week after Obama's first inauguration. Not "smart" cuts. Not waste. Top shelf capability. Some of it was fielded and working like a charm. Dropped like a hot potato. We threw away major levels of technical superiority because the turd in the WH didn't want us to have it.

I think defense is worthy and necessary. It’s hard, however, to call 99% of what the feds do under that name actual “defense.”
