I’ll never understand why J. DeLorean ever wanted to marry his beautiful creation to an under-performing power train!

A shame, just think of the market share he could have captured with a performance machine!

It was a real cool looking car with the performance of the vega automatic wagon.

Government standards choked every muscle car into oblivion. They even mandated that speedometers top out at 85mph.

For the early 1980s, the Delorean wasn't too slow. The DMC was about 10 seconds to 60.

The 1981 Vette only packed 190hp and took 8.5 seconds to 60. This was the fastest stock American car of the day.

Many imported super-cars were much faster but technically illegal.
