The theoretical Knesset deadlock between Left and Right was smashed today when the IDF soldiers' vote came in and saw Bayit Yehudi winning a record 12th seat. This also matches the National Religious Party's previous showing which was in 1977. With this gain the Right now has 61 Knesset seats and since Yesh Atid declared it was not part of the leftist bloc.

Was there an Obama apparatchik who helped direct the anti-Netanyahu campaign; I thought someone like Plouffe had been advising at one time but I forget the details. Also why was our polling so accurate for the November 2012 election, but theirs so far off? The “explanation” that I read, that Netanyahu’s policies were popular but he was not, but that since his victory was assured in the polls, it freed people to vote for someone they really liked, sounds like classic misdirection.

Did Israel essentially move to the right in this election?
