Chris Wallace Skewers NRA’s Wayne LaPierre On Gun Violence: ‘That’s Ridiculous And You Know It, Sir’
mediaite.com ^ | 3 February, 2013 | Meenal Vamburkar

On Fox News Sunday, following the segment featuring Mark Kelly, Chris Wallace interviewed National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre about various issues surrounding gun control — ranging from background checks to mental health concerns to armed security at schools. Pressing LaPierre on his arguments, Wallace challenged him on some of his opposition to gun control.

Wallace began with background checks, citing the 1.7 million people who’ve been denied because of the checks — but LaPierre argued that most of those people weren’t prosecuted, and we can’t say they “were stopped from getting a gun at all.”

He further argued against calling them universal. “It’s a fraud to call it universal,” LaPierre said, because criminals won’t comply. Thus it’s more apt to call it a “universal check into a universal registry of law-abiding people.” And it will only create a “bureaucratic nightmare.”

"The idea of an elite class, Wallace said, is “just nonsense.”"

Notice how the left is always quick to throw the label of “ridiculous”, “nonsense” or “insane” on the commentary of conservatives without ever explaining how they arrive at that.

And...on the comment from this leftist mouthpiece how “You really think that the president’s children are the same kind of target as every school child in America?”

Well, let’s see...the president’s kids don’t have any bullet holes in them, and 20 kindergartners, in just the latest incident, do. I would say that in the interest of the rest of the folks outside of this jerk’s circle of important people, yes, the same kind of target as the president’s children that we don’t want hurt by nut jobs. Is Chris really listening to the crap that comes out of his own mouth?
WADAPUTZ.

I watched it. Wallace asked questions. Pierre addressed them.

Chris doesn't usually get that out of Democrats you know. I didn't get the sense he was attacking him ~ BTW, the school district that includes Newtown has decided to hire armed guards or all their schools. Wayne won that one. Chris knows it.

I really love this one, only a truly retarded liberal could come up with, “Also, random observation, given the fact that humanity survived just fine without semiauto technology, Mr. Lapierres argument leaves something to be desired.”

No point in commenting further, anyone who does not see that as utterly stupid is hopeless. It illustrates what I keep saying about the retarded liberals, they can believe anything provided it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to any logical thinker and they imagine themselves to be showing their amazing brilliance when they spout such absurdities.

The President has a right and an obligation to see that his children are protected. But guess what....so do I! My children are just as important as the President’s! This is what Wallace does not understand - what an imbecile. The Presidnet’s children face a greater risk but they are not more important!!!!!!!

I have liked Chris Wallace in the past, but I have to speak against him over his ‘interview’ with Wayne this AM.

I watched Chris talk over Wayne at every turn, not giving him a chance to answer.

That alone was disgusting for an interviewer of Wallace’s stature & exposure.

However:

I have more to say:

Chris Wallace is the son of Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes fame. Most of us here on FR know that, but many people who tune in to this Sunday AM show DO NOT know that.

Chris was raised in what I call ‘rarified air’ circumstances.

He was raised behind gates in a gated community or in an apartment which has locked entrances behind entry alcoves & doormen who clear persons who don’t live in the building.

They often are in New York or Washington DC, and they don’t drive themselves, getting moved about by cab or by ‘drivers’ and cars provided by their employers. The higher the profile, the more perks & ‘services’ these people live with. They don’t ‘go grocery shopping’ like we do, and they often have ‘personal assistants’ who even do their clothes shopping, bringing multiple outfits to the apartment & selections are done there. NO ‘CHANGING ROOMS’ for these elite.

They get their entertainment thru ‘The Theatre’ or thru high end multi channel television and other live entertainment. They don’t go ‘to the park’ or to other open venues like we do.

They don’t encounter door to door people, no matter how legit they are.

In other words, their ‘exposure’ to dangers that most of us can face any day of the week are minimal. They would not face a ‘car jacking’ like a mother at the gas station or in the Wal-Mart, Macy’s, Home Depot, or Lowe’s parking lots. They have been raised in a cocoon of safety, which the high majority of American citizens have never witnessed.

There is definate difference betwen the kids in Wyoming going 47 miles one waay to school and the protected kids at Sidwell & Friends school, where many of the Washington DC insiders kids are attending classes.

When Chriss Wallace says Wayne is mis-representing people as ‘elites’ Chris himself has no idea how the rest of us live.

I personally live rural in N Nevada. It is over 24 miles one way to the grocery store, over 6 miles one way to the Post Office, which is threatened with closure, and over 20 miles one way to Wal-Mart & Lowe’s, where I do the bulk of my supply shopping.

We don’t have call boxes on our roads out here, and we have to have dependable vehicles & a network of people who know we are going somewhere just in case we don’t return. Sometimes, we have to have backup to feed out animals in bad weather when we have to go to town for medical trips, etc. We can get weatherbound or severely delayed easily in the winter. Animals still have to be fed timely.

This isn’t something I am complaining about for myself, but only to point out that inside the confines of both New York and Washington DC, those in the media & in the government are totally clueless.

Telling us to grab scissors when we have an intruder is beyond comprehension-—Thanks, Janet Nappy for that advice!!! I have a 1350 sq ft house & I have 4 pairs of scissors inside that house, but I don’t think I could get to any one pair with any speed to match the gun in the hand of that intruder!!! I would get some warning from the gaggle of dogs, but probably would have more luck against an intruder with the cast iron frying pan which is always on the stove!!

I believe in the 2nd Amendment. I trust Wayne LaPierre far more with protecting my right to owning a gun than ANYONE inside the Obama administration or anyone in the media.

I realize that I don’t count for much, other than another vote to show that they ‘have won’, or to say that ‘they beat my candidate’, but I can tell you this:

When the SHTF, I will live longer than many who are making decisions about my basic safety!!! I will go down, but I will do my best to have a part in cleaning out the gene pool on my way down!!!

Those who support the use of illegal drugs would support the gang bangers having unrestricted access to guns so that these drugs are available.

When is someone on the right going to clarify that the bodies of the kids at Newtown were NOT RIDDLED with bullet holes, as the media has been saying for 6 weeks?

The ‘assault gun’ that the kid had stolen ws still in the trunk of the car he also stole.

I am tired of the conservatives letting this LIE continue and get passed on and on and on and on.

Chris Wallace’s interview with Wayne LaPierre was like the Hildebeast before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Both Wallace and the Hildebeast remind me of the squid, just before being chomped by the shark, squirting out a plumb of dark ink. Everyone should recognize the tactic.

Dear tired of the conservatives,

I’m not going to do it for you, but if you will research it, you will find that, yes, there was a Bushmaster AR15 used to shoot the victims. The gun in the shooter’s trunk was a shotgun.

And I did not put “riddled” in my comment.

Hope you get some rest.

I am so sick of these assholes like Wallace who behave like complete douchebags, and then have their buddies write how they "skewered" their opponents when all they did was makes an ass out of themselves.

I stopped watching any kind of mass market news long ago because of these anti American assclowns. F#ck them all.

Glenn Beck showed us you don't need the mass media any more, and he showed how it is done.

Quit watching Fox News just prior to the election. Since Murdock’s embarrassment in England they’ve been trying to make amends to government officials. Since liberals control the airways, they’ve become turncoats in order to exist. Haven’t seen the numbers but suspect there’s been a good drop in viewership numbers.

I hear you. People like Wallace think they are so smart. In truth, they are just as out of touch as the “low information voters” I hear Rush Limbaugh talk about.

Thanks for your post. As long as our nation has folks like you, it will endure.

“I didn’t get the sense he was attacking him ~ BTW”
Neither did I. . .however, that said, what is disturbing was the segment before where he basically asked soft-ball questions and did no hard-ball follow-ups with Mark Kelly.

THAT is what offends.

I expected Wallace to be hard, as that is his job. But I also expect him to be hard on BOTH sides and he wasn’t.

He played favorites today and that is to his everlasting shame.
