This is also how the democrats win at elections. They are good at mining social media analytics. The “war on women” was declared when their data mining indicated Obama was losing support among women. Republicans need to join the Google age and get far better at this kind of thing.

WOAH!!! Great side-point. This was a brilliant misuse of government funds on the part of Democrats: Use these tools for POLITICAL EDGE. There are, at present, NO laws preventing such a thing!!!!

This is so important I am pinging EVERYONE I have on a list.

Kuckily as it happens, FR is the only thing vaguely like social networking that I do.

Funny, I doubt the rats bother data mining here for nuggets to use in campaigns.

Gentlemen, I think all of us agree, that the GOPe as a political entity is, if not dead, then at the least is on terminal life support.

All the counter-intel and social networking on the planet will not resuscitate it. Let us gather by the bedside, and listen for the death rattle, pay our final respects, and then off to the pub where we form the new party.

“There are, at present, NO laws preventing such a thing!!!!”

In a nation founded on liberty, that should not be an issue.

I hate to use this phrase, but.... Laz is right... there, I said it. Our side absolutely SUCKS at this and we are being trampled upon. This isn't about dumbing down our message like so many claim we will do if we join the internet age. This is about making our message applicable to the people. To do that, you have to understand the people.

I am not claiming that the democrats have done something illegal, they just are far better at using already available tools, and maybe building their own, to mine data, target voters, and influence opinion.

For instance, go to Google Trends and look for the search terms "gun control."

Gun control

This chart show the relative search frequency of the term on Google over time. A President is a news maker, and what he says in a speech, or his actions, does alter our behavior on the internet, and can be seen and monitored. The spike in this chart is entirely due to Obama's recent actions. If you play around with the tool, you can get better information. Like if you search for similar terms like "gun control fascism" or "gun control school safety," you can get a better picture of how people are thinking about the issue, what side they are on, and how they are responding to the president's words and actions.

There are many tools and tricks where a smart organization can mine the Internet and determine which sites are likely to support you, which are not, and how specifically to respond and target friends and foes alike to enhance or suppress their participation.

Look at his constant use of the term "common sense." That is a code word to program people. It is a tested and targeted phrase. We need to detect and counter the programming with deprogramming of our own.

Remember, the media are captive prostitutes for the democrats. The media's tricks to influence opinion are shared with the democrats. Democrats are much better at this than republicans, and conservatives must get better at this.

Please put me on any ping lists you have, especially the “I’d hit it” list which may or may not exist.

Worst case I might have to ask you to remove me from a list or two but it won’t be from the only list mentioned. You’re an FR treasure. Thanks. ;-)

Thanks Laz. This looks to be SOP by the RATS. Probably run out of defense dept. with oversight by panetta. panetta may have hit the road to avoid exposure. This is a theory.

“We are looking for Predictive Modeling/Data Mining Scientists and Analysts, at both the senior and junior level, to join our department through November 2012 at our Chicago Headquarters,” read the ad. “We are a multi-disciplinary team of statisticians, predictive modelers, data mining experts, mathematicians, software developers, general analysts and organizers - all striving for a single goal: re-electing President Obama.”

The job listing caught the attention of Alex Lundry, a Republican data-mining expert at TargetPoint Consulting. He tweeted a link to the ad, commenting, “The Obama campaign is taking #bigdata seriously; what about the GOP candidates?”
