IMHO you should add that the militarization of our police forces at all levels is not good for anybody, not even the police. There is no single cause for this and I would not have them by any means defenseless, but warriors are for wars not for the blessings of domestic tranquility. Every day our LEOs face greater and greater depravity and insanity. It grinds them down like soldiers who have fought too long. They are swamped in fear, suspect everyone, can't trust anyone and sometimes, as in this case, not even their brother cops.

Agree with your points, but would add one.

The official line of the LAPD today is “We did not mean to burn down the house, we were just trying to smoke him out.”

That is a 100% lie. Recorded on the police radio was “Burn that MotherF_cker to the ground” followed by “10-4, Seven burners deployed and the house is on fire”.

It is fairly evident what happened. It was a summary execution.
