Police in Christopher Dorner standoff launched incendiary tear gas into cabin

By CHUCK BENNETT and DAVID K. LI From Post Wires Last Updated: 6:14 AM, February 14, 2013

Murderous ex-cop Christopher Jordan Dorner wanted to go out in a blaze of glory — and the sheriff’s deputies who surrounded his California mountain hideout provided the flames.

The San Bernardino County cops torched the wooden cabin with highly flammable “incendiary tear gas” as Dorner took refuge Tuesday, apparently burning him to a crisp.

“Burn this mf--er!” one officer shouted as they had Dorner — who had earlier killed a deputy and seriously wounded another — pinned down in the cabin, according to police radio transmissions.

Amid sounds of gunfire, voices can be head shouting, “Burn it down!” and “Shoot the gas!”

I haven’t seen anyone defending Dorner. He needed to die. Period.

What is sickening is those cheerleading and penning excuses for an off-the-chain law enforcement agency that took it upon itself to be judge-jury-executioner.

Armchair quarterbacking aside, they had him pinned down. Pull back to safe distance. Set up a rotation of snipers. He pokes his head out... Cap him. Otherwise, wait.

There was no need to BBQ him. Period.

EXCESSIVE FORCE
A law enforcement officer has the right to use such force as is reasonably necessary under the circumstances to make a lawful arrest. An unreasonable seizure occurs when a law enforcement officer uses excessive force in making a lawful arrest.

Now someone did.

I’m happy he’s dead and I’m even happier that he was burned to a cinder.

And I imagine the owner will be fully compensated for the structure and loss of rental income.

You have a vivid imagination.

They were on the very margin of professionalism in handling this.

Who were "they"? There were a number of law enforcement agencies involved.

How many posters here have had their homes surrounded by law enforcement officers with police helicopters flying overhead?

>>Are you saying Dorner was justified in killing the police?<<

Of course not.

>>If not, what is your argument?<<

My point is that there was no conviction or sentence other then what the LEO meted out. The LEO did not follow the rule of law in this case. The two ladies were not shooting at them. The other guy in the pickup wasn’t shooting at them. Dorner wasn’t shooting at them at the time they fired that incendiary device.

I’m not happy that law enforcement just took a huge step closer in justifying playing Judge Dredd.

Nor should you.

Myopia can be a real bitch some times.

"The defense of Dorner on this board is sickening and something I never thought I would see."

Defense?

Or maybe skepticism. I mean really there are people lapping up whatever the MSM and the Government spews forth like it was the food of the gods.

Remember these same groups (Government and MSM) assured us a video uploaded to youtube was responsible for an United States Ambassador and three other American citizens being murdered in Benghazi.

So far the Government and the MSM has made a lot of statements claiming they are facts. I don't trust them anymore to take them at their word. And neither should you.

So what difference did it make? Dead is dead. What if he set the fire instead hoping to draw the police/firedept into the dwelling so he could ambush them?

That’s the beauty of this whole thing. All our arguments are based on what we don’t know. But I’m glad I didn’t have to sit behind a piece of steel for a week waiting the guy out. Screw it, you can build another house.

They should have asked Charlie Sheen to come up to Big Bear and coax him out. I’m sure Charlie would have accommodated that wish. If he wouldn’t there is always JJ.

Obama writing laws directly into law Or Congress passing them.

What’s the difference?

And no. The cops set the fire.

I only wished they’d killed him sooner. Then Jeremiah Mackay would be able to go home to his wife, and 7 year old daughter and 4 month old son. And Michael Crain would be able to go home to his wife, 10-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter.

That is a wikipedia-type sentence, not a law.

Dorner had used deadly force on the officers on the scene.

He still was armed and refusing to surrender.

He had killed a deputy when he tried to bolt the house earlier.

He was still armed and represented a lethal threat to officers on the scene.

Deadly force was justifiable until such time that he surrendered.

What if a sniper spotted where he was in the cabin and shot him dead that way? Would that make him less dead? Dead in a way more satisfactory to you?

Good idea. We’d either run out of Hollywood idiots, or he’d run out of ammo... Either way, we’d win.

The officers seemed determined to execute him.

Firing at police officers can get a person killed. Especially when it is quite obvious the person shooting is willing to kill indiscriminately.

He just shot two people. The fact he wasn’t shooting didn’t mean he intended to stop.

Let’s put it this way. You are in a store carrying your Concealed weapon. A guy comes in and shoots a clerk and a customer. Are you going to play judge and jury and execute him or obey the rule of law and presume he is innocent?

They fired a tear gas canister BTW.

You SERIOUSLY are finding equivalence in the LAPD idiocy to Dorner being holed up in a cabin after shooting a deputy there?

Woof.

I only wish that the LAPD wasn’t noted as being one of the most corrupt outside of Chicago. Maybe then none of this would have happened.

I wish Leftist ideology wasn’t so inculcated into peoples entitled mindset that they feel justified in going on murder sprees when the corrupt system they willingly take part if screws them over.

While we’re at it, lets wish for a return to Constitutional governance and an enlightened society where the cops really are your Friends rather than an occupying military force...

He continued to present a lethal threat to them. Lethal force was justified.

This is how getting "droned" will start. Get the public used to incidents like this. The next person will be hit with a Helfire missile. Lethal force justified. Anyone remember the Philly MOVE incident where the cops used C4 to take out a block of apartments?
