No - it won't be one man. Powerful essay with some excellent insights. My Irish ancestors have been notorious for seizing the opportunity for liberty and then foolishly squandering it. We here In America could hope to do better.

“Perhaps the world isn’t the way we wish it would be. We all might wish that evil men could be persuaded from their vile behavior with bleeding heart entreaties, a kiss on the cheek, or proper toilet training. But it ain’t that way, folks, Pacifism is a sickness, an actual moral perversity, and dangerous when its effects spread to anyone else beside the pacifist. You may choose to walk to the cattle car, but damn you if you let your children be led up the ramp. You must never allow any group or government to steal your right to exercise armed lethal force in a just situation.”

Collins compromised for peace and power after being essentially a murderer at that point

I don’t see much of a lesson

though he was better than that Cuban interloper

I don’t think we are quite to the point of assasinations and murder

but I fear that is an eventuality down the road

or else traditional America will simply surrender

Americans don’t understand local strife...we older Southerners still get it a bit but we are likely the last to have memories explained to us by those closer to the conflict and we were raised amongst fresher wounds and an extended aftermath...extended post civil war policies on into the 1960s down here

an aftermath btw...that has led to open border and Barack Obama and our destruction

Joe and Jane Americanidol won’t think of it as assassination. They’ll blame the victim, who in this case also happens to be a villain, which is confusing. Just like they could blame David Koresh for the women and children roasted in Waco.

If the cops are out to get you, you probably did something wrong.

Oh, and tell your complaints to the widows and orphans of the murdered police officers.

While the cops who shot up those cars should be investigated and punished if found guilty of rash, unprofessional behavior, this guy Buppert is a paranoid wackjob.

Just read the complete essay, wow, what a piece of prose. I sure do agree with this part, (among many others).

It couldn’t have been easy for Michael Collins, circling the moon while Armstrong and Aldrin were walking around down there.

Apples and Oranges. Michael Collins is what would have happened here if George Washington lost the revolution and if King George III did to the colonists what Henry VIII Cromwell, and the Potato Famines did to Ireland over the 380 year period. Jackbooted rule by foreigners who despised them and their religion.

I hope we don't need our own Michael Collins here. The militarization of our police from peace officers to quasi-military units is scary, especially from the feds. I see this as well to a lesser extent with some state cops and some suburban cops, especially those under 35 or ones pushing for promotion.

Not all cops are bad, but there are some bad ones out there.

I tell people to watch the movie “Michael Collins” when the subject of CWII comes up in “conversation.” Especially if it’s with some idiot who thinks the sides will be “standing in ranks and trading volleys,” (http://www.unpopulartruth.com/2009/04/american-revolutionary-war-was-not-won.html) or that the anti-gov’t forces would congregate in a place where they could be fixed and killed by superior weapons.

Get himself killed by the very forces he’d helped unleash?
