May have been trying to poison coyotes, and the eagles got into the bait. Would be my guess.

I have mouse bait in secure locations, but I’m constantly on the lookout for dead ones so kitty doesn’t find them first. But I’m concerned about the ones that go outside to croak. Lesser of two evils, I guess.

(Yes, I know, I’ve tried all kinds of non-poisonous, but I’m talking about hard-to-reach areas).

That’s a possibility. Bald Eagles can be scavengers.
