Years ago, I’m thinking over 50, my cousin in law’s father would shoot at any raptor. He was a sheep rancher in Texas. No one messed with his sheep. I don’t even know if there were bald eagles in Grayson county but if he had seen one, he would have shot it.

We have several sheep farms here and I always see red-tail hawks flying around with a sheep in their talons.

When we lived at HOPE NM, back in 1956 we would often go out to ranch south of there. We would see dead coyotes, Golden eagles, and cougars hanging dead on the fence by the gate.

We would pull out the tail feathers of the eagles to fletch arrows.

We have huge numbers of bald eagles here in NE Arkansas.
