ABC News reporter David Wright chose an odd metaphor to describe criticism of the possible timing of the selection of Pope Benedict XVI's successor.
Wright, speaking live from the Vatican on today's Good Morning America, reported that yesterday the Vatican spokesman had floated a trial balloon suggesting that the conclave to choose a new Pope could be moved up from its originally established date of March 15th. Continued Wright: "but in other quarters of the Church, that trial balloon is being shot down faster than an old-school nun might rap you on the knuckles."

As a student who was indeed rapped on the knuckles by more than one nun, I wish I could find and thank then for giving me the education to do things far beyond the intellectual capacity of any of these MSM loons.
David Wright should be muzzled faster than a Catholic schoolboy could kick him in the b@ll$.
But, we've heard that slur from the MSM as well as other religious groups in plenty of different contexts before. I've seen it before on FR. We've seen southern Evangelicals repeatedly mocked and skewered for their actual beliefs for decades, on comedy shows and in news reports.
So, I'm not at all sure where a Catholic would get the impression that they're being singled out. If anything, they get something of a pass, being largely northeastern and majority Democrat.
