Activist re-invited back to Hilo High

Jim Albertini will be able to speak at Hilo High School after all.

The anti-war activist said that Principal Bob Dircks notified his attorney on Friday that he will be allowed to speak to students, reversing a decision made two days prior to cancel the event due to a backlash over his outspoken views of the military.

The previous day, Honolulu attorney Eric Seitz[ACLU] representing Albertini, threatened the school with a lawsuit over alleged civil liberties violations if his presentation wasn’t allowed.

I am sick of this crap! Why can’t conservatives and pro-military speak and then threaten to sue if we don’t get our way?! Failure to fight is the reason the left is winning!

“...The controversy started when school Librarian Amy Okuyama wrote a letter to Watts protesting the selection...the presentation was scheduled for the library, and Okuyama objected to use of the space, claiming the presentation would be biased against the military. Her son serves in the military.”

Good for her!

As far as the ACLU getting involved...this makes no sense to me. If the government was censoring his right to be a loud-mouthed idiot, it would be one thing. Like him or not (and I am in the NOT category), he has a right to his views. But I don’t see he how he *possibly* can have a guaranteed right to make a presentation of his views at a local high school. I get that it is a public (i.e. government) school, but that does not (or in my mind, should not) automatically mean the school *must* invite this guy.

BTW, this clown hits all the traditional lefty views: anti-military, anti-nuclear power, etc. You can find a list of his “greatest hits” here: http://archives.starbulletin.com/2001/02/14/news/whatever.html

What a tool.

Bullshit! There is no legal requirement for any school to allow anyone to speak there.
Not having this jerk speak does not infringe his right to say whatever stupid thing he wants to say. Just not at the school.......
The ACLU is anti-American.....

Agreed. And answers to your question might be in the following. Self-described "progressives" led other socialists to infiltrate, donate to and take over other organizations. It's been going on for a long time.
