Oh, yeah, that's a good one, now known as Lake Rose! Final size was 350' by ~ 80' deep. Then, and NOW.

Goes to show the hardship facing the Seffner neighborhood and especially the family of that poor man. What a precipitous event, literally, sinking sand. Remembering warnings...

I do. I lived mere blocks away.
To This day I have a photo of it hanging on my office wall.
When I saw this thread I immediately thought of it.

Horrible.

Lived in Tampa for several years. My house was hit by lightening once, causing a fire, and another time a tree fell over on the roof. Didn’t realize it could have been swallowed up by a sinkhole!
