The way to limit all of these conferences...go ahead and hold them but put them all in cities like Ames, Iowa, or Topeka, Kansas, or Birmingham, Alabama. Put these folks all into three-star hotels.....give $20 a day for food, and let them have their conference. My guess is that half will turn down the deal.
Why don’t they simply jack up the price of postage to $2 per letter. Then money would no longer be a problem.
I say we help push the demise of this arcane, obsolete agency. Utilize the Internet in every way possible; pay bills, electronic receipts, email, etc. then, write “Return to Sender” on every piece of junk mail you receive and put it back in your mail box.
Party for me. No Saturday delivery for you.
Perception is EVERYTHING.
Buncha dumbasses.
They just never get over themselves do they?
More EID stamps!!
In the New America™, our deficit isn't a problem!
Should read, "The trip is expected to cost flailing taxpayers..."
Maybe they could sponsor Lance Armstrong to raise money.
Regarding our small business, the worst part is, they’ve eliminated cheaper classes of international mail, so mailing our American-made products cost far more to international customers than it used to.
The same size packages overseas that used to cost $10 when we sent them “Surface Mail”, now everything has to be sent “Air mail”, which is $55 and up!
Our sales direct to consumer, both national and international, business is way down.
The National Postal Forum is not USPS ~ and in some years UPS and FedEx have actually set up tradefair booths in the conference hall, as have equipment manufacturers (Noting that large mailing houses don't stick those cards, letters and SPRs together by hand these days).
So, raise your hands fellow posters ~ how many of you work for UPS or for countries with long term special contracts with that company? 1?
2?
Most likely all of you!
disgusting...more money thrown at this inept managed dept,,and less service...like the schools...
Someone please stop the madness in DC. Freeze the checkbook.
I wish the USPS would shut down already! It’s a completely useless anachronism that has become the poster child for inadequacy.
STOP THE MADNESS!!!!! DEMOCRATS think they are SO MUCH BETTER than anyone elese and they KNOW NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO THEM!!
Golf? Is Barry invited?
Funny. I’ve been seeing all these commercials lately asking me to contact Congress to “tell them to keep Saturday delivery”. They could eliminate Tuesday and Thursday delivery as well as far as I’m concerned.
It is a government agency, despite the legal fiction that it is not. It is run by ruling elite that thinks that it deserves special privileges while it looks down its nose at the ordinary people.
The postal service is a vital part of commerce. Consider how much sorting, transfer and transportation is needed to pick up that one birthday card and take it across the country (or the world) and deliver it within a few days.
Compare that to a cab ride or any other delivery service - if there were no USPS. The cost of a stamp in the private sector would approach $2 per letter.
Certainly, improvements are needed in management of resources and cost containment - but this is a Government subsidized enterprise. No profit motive = no incentive. No surprise.
