I just checked my milk. It just says they don’t use artificial growth hormones. I hadn’t even thought about that. What is really in our food???

Ah, that's stuck into the cow so it is part of the milk when it comes out.

Which begs the question: if you genetically engineer the cow to produce aspartame and chocolate, can you just call the product "milk" on the bottle?

And that’s just for starters.

Buy single ingredient food and make up your own recipes.

Oops. I misread your post. There was a fight a while ago about artificial growth hormone. Those who wanted to use it didn't want it on the label and in addition wanted to prohibit those suppliers who didn't add it from labeling their milk as growth hormone free. Fortunately they failed in the last part so growth hormone free milk can be sold as such.

&&&
I have often wondered if our nationwide obesity problem is tied to the growth hormones give to livestock. Likewise, I suspect that such hormones also account for the fact that children today are reaching puberty at earlier ages and for the fact that there are so many well-endowed teen girls.

I now buy milk and half and half labeled “organic”. Organic butter when I can find it. Have not seen organic cheese for sale around here.

“It just says they don’t use artificial growth hormones.”

You have just been suckered.

These marketing dept. are out to SELL us and they play games with the labels. Time to milk the cows myself.
