Secret McConnell campaign recording was allegedly made by co-founders of a liberal advocacy group, including a Democratic National Convention delegate

* Potential suspect was longtime Democratic insider, despite party's claim it was blindsided by investigation
* Liberal magazine that published recording may have received the product of a federal wiretapping felony

David Martosko

The activists who allegedly recorded a private conversation among members of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's re-election team are tied to a liberal political action committee whose co-founder was a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

...

The Daily Caller reported that Reilly was a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. It cited a Huffington Post story which noted that before he co-founded Progress Kentucky, Reilly 'was a member of the executive committee of the state Democratic Party.'

'Although Reilly appears to be a member of the Democratic Party establishment,' the Caller reported, 'media outlets are now propagating a version of the illegal bugging story in which Democratic officials claim to have been blindsided by a scandal foisted on them by an unaccountable outside group.'

...

Mother Jones magazine, the non-profit liberal magazine that published the recording, may be in legal jeopardy - or in danger of losing its tax-exempt status - if it's determined that the tape was made illegally. It's a crime in Kentucky to record or publish the contents of a private conversation unless all its participants consent. And crossing state lines with such a recording, an FBI source told MailOnline on condition of anonymity, is a 'slam-dunk federal case.'

Mother Jones is headquartered in California. David Corn, the reporter who broke the story, is based in Washington, D.C...

“or in danger of losing its tax-exempt status”

That should have been done long ago

And where is the Bernstein and Woodward to disgrace the Kenyan POSOTUS out of the White Hut?

Rhetorical question. There is none.

This is the same guy who launched a racist attack against McConnell’s Asian American wife.

AND got his roommate killed while tailing “suspicious” people, ala George Zimmerman, a few years back.

The folks behind this are also RUNNING ADVERTISING on the local news linking background checks to Al quieda’s proaganda...gee advertising to hurt a republican who thought of that? I’ve been SCREAMING for months that advertising is how you get the attention of the low info voter. Obambi’s ratings are in the 40s they could be in the 30s if you ran advertising about ethanol, cost of food, cost of gasoline 4 years ago and today. But our side waits till 6 months before elections to try to change minds...too late.

Forget the references to Watergate. How many strategy sessions were there by the Democrats to figure out how they would ridicule Sarah Palin when she received the nomination for Vice President? How many session were there by the liberal press? You talk about the weaknesses of your opponent in order to figure out what strategy you will employ. And you crack jokes. I know I would. Big hairy deal. They were using Judd's autobiography (why the hell would anyone ever want to read that?) as source material. In the end, they did not go on the attack. Less than nothing here.

If it wasn’t for double standards, the Obama media would have no standards at all.
