The parents of a western New York man killed in a car crash are suing county officials after the coroner there took a piece of their son's body for use in a dog-training exercise.
Roger Dunn, 32, died April 13, 2012, in an auto wreck in Cambria.
After his death, Niagara County Coroner Russell Jackman gave some tissue from the crash scene to a volunteer fire chief who was training a dog to sniff out human remains.
Both men later resigned and pleaded guilty to misdemeanors over their conduct. They also apologized.

This is just bizarre!
#1—why would they do it?
#2—how the family know about it?
It's sickening to think that these public officials would not only consider doing wheat they did, but carry it out; and why, why would they do this?!
Because doing rice or oats isn't as effective?
But seriously, (hard for me to do,) They did it because waiting for the 20 page form filed in triplicate to be approved would take too long.
They took a short cut and got caught.
Roger was pissed I am sure. /sarc. I believe that they should have some sort of volunteer program to use your body for various training. However, they need to get permission before death. Already some people donate their bodies to medicine. If they want this program, then they need to make it official and allow people to volunteer prior to death. There would be some that would.
I’m curious as to how they found out about it too.

Did everyone miss the story of the federally funded research using 1300 preemies that resulted in death and blindness of the babies for science??
I actually saw that in an actual newspaper the other day.
