I read last night that the boat was one block outside of the established perimeter. A cop who was interviewed sounded downright embarrassed about it. The fact is, if that homeowner had not gone out back to check on his boat, the bomber may have simply died there and been found much later, or, recovered enough to kill somebody and steal a vehicle..

That house and the yard were searched, or supposed to have been searched, that night. The homeowner noticed an open garage door, bloody clothes, blood on his boat tarp and a cut tie-down.
Either all of that happened after the cops searched his property, or the searchers were too interested in their doughnuts to see all that.
I suspect the former.
