I’ve always wondered why this state has any Democrats in office at all.....then I remember a couple I met in Seattle that were hard corps unionists/Democrats......both were born/raised in Butte Montana.... just never seemed right to me......except as children of the Great Depression.....
There was the aroma of senate seat pickups all over the 2012 election. Turned out to be the stench of GOP candidates pooping all over themselves and losing seats that we should have won. I'll wait until we see who the candidates are.
Not a chance! If Baucus retires, Schweitzer will get the dim nomination and go on to victory.
Schweitzer is a folksy guy who supports gun rights, bucks the mainstream dim line, and is generally liked by most Montanans.
There isn’t any Republican in Montana that can beat him.

If you smell a pickup, you need to consider recent MT history in U.S. Senate races. It is not encouraging.
The Gov won 2 terms they couldn’t get rid of the hick they elected in 2006. To many Californians will F this up
Democrats will simply run someone who supports Obamacare in practice while denying to have voted for it to give their dimwit voters some reason to withhold retribution while doing nothing to correct the problem.
Its going to be a tough fight assiming we can get someone half decent to run. If its like the South Carolina Race where the GOP picks a discrased dimwit were screwed.
