Conservative states can keep Lefties out by continually advancing socially conservative legislation. Promote family values, break up the education monopoly, restrict or ban abortion, uphold gun rights. Many leftist CA escapees are attracted to the red states because of job opportunities and lower taxes. However, they are repelled by socially conservative values and culture which has likely impeded their migration to the deep South states. The Mountain West has generally been more libertarian, values that are seemingly compatable with superficial Leftist in the beginning. However, the superficial Leftist, the progressive if you like, has been duped by the authoritarian. It is these mindless drones, brainwashed by the authoritarian Left, that eventually destroy these once free states.
