Agreed, they have taken an oath to uphold the law.

The only time they have the right to decide to ignore a law is

when laws violate the constitution.
When laws are conflicting and impossible to uphold both.
When the law is impossible to uphold because it needs specific funding and congress hasn't approved the funds.
