Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III took to Twitter on Tuesday to complain about the “tyranny of political correctness” he believes is holding American culture “hostage.”

“In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness,” the NFL player wrote on his official Twitter account. He followed up the post with a definition of the word, writing: “Tyranny- ‘a condition imposed by some outside agency or forceThe Twitter commentary comes as some are pushing the NFL to change the Redskins team name due to the racial implications of the Native American moniker. Additionally, NBA player Jason Collins garnered an abundance of media attention in the past week after coming out as the first openly gay player on a major, professional American sports team.

The Redskins quarterback and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner responded to the backlash on Tuesday evening, writing, “If we speak..we say it the wrong way If we do not speak we are cowards….”

If this keeps up, I'm thinking they should name them the "Thin Skins".

I wonder if the Commiss is testing the first-round draft picks when he hugs them on stage. Maybe one will get a certain excitement.

Remember, it was a child that shouted that the Emperor had no clothes when all others were too afraid. Someone has to start the process. : )

What does a potato have to do with Native Americans?

Believe redskins were originally a Boston team, and the moniker refers to a type of bean popular in the region....

YMMV

Hooray for RGIII!!!

It’s well passed time for people to stand up and tell the whiners, “TOUGH! I don’t care what you don’t like! Nothing is changing here!”

Love it. If forced to change the name, I second the Washington Thin Skins. Thin-skinned PC types have more to do with DC than the Tuskegee Airmen who were affilated with Alabama.

Wow!

RGIII is impressive as a young hard working and intelligent QB. In spite of his heritage, he obviously doesn’t feel the destructive sense of entitlement so many young people due.

Now, he dares to dip his oar into the vile PC waters of America.
