As they fall off Unemployment they go on disability.

I believe Obama likes it that way. He likes having people on his entitlements. That way he owns them.

Went to the SS website to look at my projected payouts. It turns out that the monthly payout I would receive if I go on disability today exceeds the payout I would receive at early retirement and is barely less than the full retirement amount.
Is it any wonder so many people pretend to be disabled?

“Disability” has become one of the biggest financial scams ever seen in the USA, gobbling up more cash than the crash of ENRON.

Ever wonder why there is absolutely zero effort from EITHER party to reform the disability program? After all, there is no what to know, under the current messed up system, to know or even guess what percentage of recipients are actually “disabled”. But from what I know, in my experience as a church pastor - there are a BUNCH! I run into people pretty much daily that have no problem talking openly about being on disability. Yet the vast majority are fare more healthy/able-bodied than a a lot of working folks I know. And the list of “disabilities” continues to grow. Being fat, not liking crowds, anti-social, frequent headaches, and so many other things that most of us deal with in one form or another.

I know quite a few “disabled” who can out-walk me, out-lift me, and so-on. But they choose to live off disability.

And has been stated, many now just move from unemployment over to disability.

The system is so broken, it relies upon the courts to approve or deny payments - as I have known no-one who has filed and been approved on first application. Appeals are mandatory. So that drums up business for lawyers and clogs the system.

But lets be honest - when, exactly, did it become the moral or Constitutional responsibility of government to pay people with “disabilities” to not work? It’s one thing when our military men and women are injured/disabled through their service - we DO owe them.

If the US has about 315 million people, that means that somewhere around 3.5% are claiming disability. If you figure 240 million working-age people, it’s really more like 4.5%.

Got a neighbor who did this. Can’t for the life of me figure out what his disability is when I see him working on his car. Or hanging Christmas lights on his rafters. Or carrying two cases of beer and a bag of porn DVD’s into his house.

Pays a lot more than unemployment and you don’t have to pretend to be looking for work.

No- because I work along side one- her monthly disability payment, free healthcare, and foodstamps exceed what a nondisabled person would make at $10/hr; 40 hr /wk, if you could actually get such a job that paid health insurance these days.

She appears perfectly able, her disability being a mental deal whereby stress makes her scratch at her face (her description of it).

Nice person, who used to work in the restaruant trade and helps out in our church food kitchen, and really is a great worker. Only 30, she will be on disability for the rest of her life.

Question???

Once your scumbag lawyer helps you to get on disability, do you stay there for the rest of your life, or are you required to re-establish your continuing disability every few years???

If not, the whole program is a farsical scam!
