COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Democratic Chairman Dick Harpootlian, imploring party activists Friday night to defeat this state’s Indian-American governor, predicted next year’s Democratic standard-bearer would “send Nikki Haley back to wherever the hell she came from.”
Haley was raised in South Carolina and attended college here, but her parents were Sikh immigrants.
Harpootlian, a longtime Democratic figure who has a history of using harsh rhetoric, made the comments at the party’s Jefferson-Jackson dinner just moments before Vice-President Joe Biden took the stage. Asked what he meant by comment, Harpootlian wrote in an email: “Lexington County.”
Before being elected governor in 2010, Haley lived in the suburban Columbia county and represented the area in the state House. As to whether he thought the comment could be seen as touching on her race and parents’ immigrant status, Harpootlian responded: “No, she was born in Bamberg [South Carolina] and lived in Lexington. Anybody implying anything different is attempting to feign insult.” A spokesman for Haley, however, suggested the Democrat was alluding to the governor’s ethnicity.
Without accusing Harpootlian of race-baiting outright, Rob Godfrey called it “play[ing] to the lowest common denominator.” “Unfortunately, this seems to be a trend coming out of the South Carolina Democratic Party,” said Godfrey. Harpootlian, a Columbia attorney, has made charged comments for years and become known well beyond South Carolina for his quotes. At last year’s national Democratic convention, he compared Haley to Adolph Hitler’s mistress, saying the governor “was down in the bunker a la Eva Braun.”
He refused to apologize for that remark. As was long planned, Harpootlan stepped down from his post Saturday. He was replaced by Jaime Harrison, who became the first African-American party chair in a state with an ugly racial past.
So, they replaced one racist with a black guy, so he can say racist things and get a pass from the media?

Liberals are allowed to say and do whatever the h**l they want, and the media will never call them on it. Only conservatives are held to any standards by the MSM.

The Democrat party opposed Civil Rights legislation back in the 50’s and 60’s with filibusters and whatever else they could muster. It’s in their culture and their DNA to oppose anyone who’s not like them, old, white and nasty, so it’s only natural that Harpootlian would attempt to savage someone of another nationality since blacks are now exempted from the hatefulness of Democrats. Gotta find new targets!
