I think the fact that the jihadis have a sort of academic outpost here (remember Sami al Arian?) combined with the fact that Florida is easily accessible from abroad and has always had a kind of tolerant, Wild West attitude to unusual behavior and unsual types probably makes it easy for them.
As usual, the Muslims are taking advantage of something good and destroying it.
